The vidio is fairly accurate except that mine wore out in about 2 months or less. I decided to feel the squirls almong with the birds. 4 Feeders, 5 small fish ponds, a hawk and owl that hunt all in my back yard. I keep the ponds covered with a net to keep the herins out of the koi. wildlife in any size in enjoyable to watch.

I wondered if batteries might be an issue also. Anyhow I liked it. I also found it intersting that the squirrel didn't give up after one ride.

I live on an Air Force base, and the squirrel mafia is STRONG here. We can't keep the squirrels out of our bird feeders, (that Yankee feeder looks cool, but the squirrels are smarter then that and would just jump on it until the bird seed was completely on the ground). So I took a scrap piece of wood, carved "WELCOME" on it with my router, screwed three 3" lag screws through a platform and now I feed them dried corn on the cob to distract them from the bird feeders. The show is pretty funny ..watching (and listening to) the squirrels yell at each other, and now I get to have the best of the birds too. I only wish I was back up north where there are more colorful birds. There MIGHT be color here, but I've not seen it yet.
Can anyone from this area tell me any tricks

Here in TN I use black sunflower seed and I mix safflower seed with it. One big bag of the black oil sunflower seed to a small bag of safflower seed. That attracts cardinels, chickadees, and bunches of others. I have not figured out how to keep the Starlings and such away. Hope this helps, I have migratory birds stop by in the fall and spring; they stay a couple days and then are gone.

Since you have an over-abundance of tree rats, get a live trap, trap them, take the critters out to a wooded area and let them go. Or, get a .22 If you fry them right they aren't too bad.

One of my favorite sayings is, "There is no such thing as a squirrel proof bird feeder".

Then I learned about the Yankee Flipper.

Be patient for showtime...I assure you it is worth the wait:

I wonder if the squirrels would go on that just for fun.

Not any more.

Oh, that's really funny! When you thought you've figured it out, a bear comes along! With your resourcefulness, I'm quite sure you'll figure that out as well! Let us know how, that's for sure!

He easily climbed over a six foor chainlink fence, so unless I raise it to twenty feet, the birds will have to fend for themselves.

I am sure you'll find a solution fo that sooner or later, without raising the fence. An electric fence, perhaps! :)

First time I ever thought a squirrel was sweet. They drive the dog nuts.
