This information was emailed to me and is very helpful! This is the direction I'm trying to go in.

When I do a "photo party" I run it like a mini-session. A set fee for sitting fee and include a mini-album for $150. (well below my normal sitting fee) but the session it's self is very scaled down. Normally about 1/2 an hour per person and 5 or so poses, 1 outfit. The album includes 6 or so images. For me these are more marketing tools, as if normally book at least 2 full sessions at each party and have friends of those that attended the party call me to book a full session after they have seen their friends mini-albums. I normally give the party host a larger album and include 2 outfit changes, sometime I'll discount their fee to $100, that depends on the amount of people that are purchasing the mini-session at her party.

My friend who does children portraits has portrait parties down to an art, she hosts them like the good old tupperware parties. Goes to the hots house, sets up a little "studio" and takes about 15 - 20 minutes per child/family. She charges a set fee as well and it includes the sitting fee and 2 8x10 and a 8 wallets. She of course has a sheet with add ones available for purchase.

Since I don't host client galleries on my website for sales, the parties were a little issue for me, I didn't want to set an expectation that if they booked a full session that they would get to order on-line or view their images on-line before ordering. So what I came up with is, I pick the images that go into the albums. The clients seem to like it as it's a surprise when they open up the albums. They are aware that I pick the images, I call it the "Surprise your Beautiful" mini-album. Plus I would like my turn around time on mini sessions to be less than 3 weeks, and I like to deliver all albums from one party around the same time.

My girlfriend does the same thing, but after she delivers her prints, she has a little note telling them if they would like to view and order additional prints, the on-line gallery from the party is available on her website and gives them the pass word. She normally has the pose she delivered and an additional 2 poses per family in her on-line gallery.
