:) wondering if anybody is using the epson 3880. I am thinking about by it.Feedback please .thanks
Got it. Love it. Color is superb and it does wonderful B&W.
Nice printer. Calibrate your monitor. Use epson paper and inks and the match of what you see on your monitor is very close. I use the spider 4 elite color calibration system. It also does quite well at dimming my 31 inch apple cinematic display to correctly match my brightness of my screen to the printed photo.
A nice printer for the working photographer.

Edges, you will be satisfied with it. I use five different 3880's at school. You would learn to use it. Even calibrated, they print dark. If you are printing big, always do small proofs as to not waste paper. If you are going to spend $1000 also look into an entry level 17" roll printer. The paper is half the price and the inks are bigger.
And for what it's worth, I prefer Canons.
Had mine for two years and love it!!!!!!
Outstanding quality reproduction.
Calibration is a must as with all printers if you want quality Images with out wasting huge amounts of dosh.
Inks not cheep but in the long term, vastly cheeper than those little 8ml cartridges you get on an A4 printer.
See if you can get the printer bundled with an XRITE i1 Display Pro OR similar & ColorChecker Passport.
Some good deals on this machine at the moment.
IF YOU GO FOR IT, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!!!
If this is your first serious printer, there is a learning curve, but there is a lot of info on the internet and some really good books that make sense of it all (calibration, Colour management)

I have this printer. Went from an R1800. Calibration is essential. No issues in the two years I have used it. Lovely b&w prints as well.

We added the 3800 when it first came out....then we added the 3880, same printer with new magentas (vivid), other than that, same ink. It is a work horse for sheet paper.
If you are thinking about a roll printer - consider the 4900 by Epson. These printers depend on use.....if the ink is not used at least every other day, problems will happen.
If you buy it today, Dec 31st, there is a 300 dollar rebate...and it ends tonight.
In case you ever ask, I love RED RIVER paper! Their Arctic Polar Luster is awesome....and it is not pricey!
got it and i love it. well worth the money if you print your own vs sending it out. had mine for 8 months and use it every day.
Yes, I've owned and used the Epson 3880 printer now for about a year. It has performed flawlessly. Both black-and-white and color prints look positively beautiful on a variety of papers. I particularly like the Epson Enhanced Matte and Luster papers.
Note that for best results, you must color calibrate your computer monitor, in order for the printed image to match the monitor image. With my setup, I had to reduce the recommend luminance by several points to darken the monitor image slightly. Then when I edited the image it printed with the same overall brightness as that of the monitor.
Note further that you may find a refurbished Epson 3880, at a lower cost, on the Epson Web site.
For the month of December, Epson offers a $300 rebate on the Epson 3880:

Garden Door, Ensenada 2012
I use my 3880 a lot as one of about six Epsons up to the big ones ( 44" ) I have in stock. Image quality is peerless.
