I really like the photo, Linda. But, to me the goose is a distraction; my eyes keep jumping back and forth from the fountain to the goose. Maybe that's just me.
Anyway, nice photo.
My eye does the same, John. It was one reason I posted, to see if that was a "plus" or a "minus" to other folks. I thank you very much for your time and opinion!

I’m loving your high-contrast monochrome today!

Both the value contrast and the contrast between the organic bird and the mechanical fountain are stark and effective.

I love that you cropped the arch of the water out. I would have expected that to eye out of the frame—which it does—but the rain of water onto the bird pulls it right back in. And the tighter crop provides so much better focus on the subject than having the whole arch there. Effective framing!

I'm so pleased you enjoyed, Jared!

I'm also very grateful for your opinion of the choices I made. A lovely gift!

Re the high contrast, this week's theme in Compositionally Challenged group on flickr is "Film Noir." I've been having a great time with it!

Love it! Even more when I noticed that the duck is not in the least bit distracted by the water and lights. Come to think of it, I’m curious what’s got its attention? Well done! 👏👏

Thanks so much, Terry! This Canada Goose flew in by itself, and then proceeded to spend some time calling out and looking around, then spent more time under the spray. That's all I know

I don’t know; I covered the goose, just leaving the fountain and the picture just didn’t seem to be as balanced as with the goose included. I think it is fine as is, Linda.

My two cents worth.

Are you still pondering whether that's a good thing or a bad thing?
