When I told of a problem a co-work was having (a known poroblem) , he said, ah, thats nothing, the'll fix it under warranty at the dealer. I purchase a vehicle because Me, myself don't want the hassle of being down for repairs & no other reason. I'm not sure he got it.

AND the dealers suck.
We bought a Ford Taurus a few years ago- our first new car. For my wife.
It came with a warranty service schedule- Change the oil, rotate the tires, etc Every 3k miles.
They didn't say each "service" was over $200.
AND plus or minus 50 miles meant "no. not today1"
There a few big known warrant items hat need to be addressed.
Like the head bolts needed to be re toqued to keep the coolant in?
Redondo Ford- just added stop leak, after holding the car for 3 days. Head gasket blew after 3 years.
My "half" of the dealer's estimate was larger than getting a local garage to repair it.
Another was the factory "forgot" to put drain holes in the front frame legs.
Wifee took it in- 5 days later, Redondo Frd called. Come pick it up.
I looked at the receipt- they didn't do anything.
I called the dealer- he had "ascertained" that we didn't live in an area with saled winter roads.
And that the point was moot. We're talking 2 holes drilled to stop the frame from corroding.
We sold the bitch, giving the new guy a copy of our papers. Bought a Toyota.
In just under 2 decades, we needed a new alternator. And a battery.
BTW your "lifetime" coverage only lasts 3 to 5 years. Built to last- until it's paid off or tradeed.
