Olympus E-M1X Question

My Oly E-M1X displays a symbol that I can't identify in the camera's user manual (600+ pages). The documentation I have even have separate "symbols" sections, but this symbol is not included. The symbol in question is in the attached screen shots (circled in red). Do any of you know what this symbol represents? I don't think it is an error or warning message, because those are usually displayed as orange triangles, so I suspect this symbol is provided for informational purposes...but I'm actually not sure. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The satellite will give you all the GPS you want for your photographs - if you want or need that GPS. It is at least an option available to you that a lot of other photographers do not have an option to.

Now I'm curious. How does it connect to satellite? Does it have a built in GPS?

The OM Mothership always knows exactly where each of her children is.

So, your saying the sybol displayed on the camera is the wrong one?

As other posters, noted that symbol is the satelite symbol indicating GPS recording. In my Olympus EM series and OMD cameras that symbol only comes on when I have linked the Olympus Share app with the camera so I can use my cell phone for tracking. After a day's shoot I will then download the GPS coordinates to each photo via the app--on my EM cameras. In my OM-1 once you link the camera then as long as the camera and the cell phone are near each other the app adds a GPS coordinate to the image. Hope this helps. Earl

I believe this feature is only included with the E-M1X. If I am incorrect and you are aware of any other Olympus camera (including OM Systems), please let us know.

As I noted in my message the satellite icon has shown on at least two versions of my Olympus EM cameras as well a the OM-1. Of course, I have to link the camera to my iPhone via the OI Share App before it shows up. If I mistakenly close my Olympus OI Share App the icon disappears. Earl

The difference with the EM1X is that no other hardware or software is required. GPS functionality is complete with that camera body.

Wow, pigs must be flying--I actually agree with what you said, and almost all of it was in English. Just make sure they don't crap on your head.
