We gave up stairs when we sold our NJ home and built a new home (except for the storage in the attic) in NC (1998). Moved back to NJ in 2011 and now live in a 55+ condo community in our 1489 sq. ft condo. It's adequate, has underground parking, very conveniently located, only 1 mile from our oldest daughter and 8 miles from our younger daughter. Seeing family has always been a highest priority. We are happy!

That's the one thing that keeps my wife and me in NJ..........Family. Son, Daughter and 4 grandchildren

Have you noticed that it's getting more difficult to sign into many sites? The ID and password are no longer enough. They have to send a code, get answers to questions, or also sign into Google. I don't like this, especially when I have to find my cell phone, turn it on, wait for it to boot, and then look for the code.

I just signed into Ancestry to see more distant relatives, and I had to follow that up with a sign-in to Google.

Data, data, data. The bread and butter of sellers.

Me too! But Pizza at Vic’s, pastrami at Harold’s are also motivation to stay in NJ.

"Usually" they only remember login IDs and/or your computer, one still has to enter the PW.

"Usually" is correct. Google also remembers passwords.

Computers are indeed good at remembering passwords.

The real problem is that we are being trained to do two-factor authorization. It starts with your computer. Sometime in the future it will extend to other things as 'safety features' (AKA safety annoyances). At some point your car will make you pass a test to show you aren't impaired by some alcohol, drug, or other natural cause and are competent to operate a motor vehicle.

The internet of things is going to speed that transition. Your refrigerator is going to keep track of how much milk you have and the expiration dates. That's great. It can order replacement milk when you get near to running out or when the milk has expired. The problem comes when your refrigerator won't order whole milk because your cholesterol level is too high. You have to use skim milk (yuck).

There was a story online about ordering a pizza. Someone called to order a pizza and the store asked if he wanted the usual. The guy asked how they knew what his usual order was and the store said it had been bought by Google so they knew. Then they wouldn't give him extra cheese and wanted to provide a salad instead. Then they rationalized it by bringing up his cholesterol level. When he complained they noted he hadn't been taking his medicine. They knew because he hadn't refilled his prescription. And it went on from there.

The story was, of course, apocryphal.

For now.

Note that the link I provided dates from 2021
The process is well on its way.

Two Factor Authentication is a good thing when your bank password is password. I appreciate 2FA when logging to some web sites, bank, investment, doctor. But when Google pops its 'Sign in with Google' popup, I close it, and quickly. Unless it's Gmail, of course.

Where ever there’s a Google sign in option I will consistently avoid it. Google is into many sign in options including hospitals and Dr provided reports, scheduling and other medical information. That’s a no no for me.

I have used RoboForm password manager for the past 10 years. Mostly trouble free and extremely convenient. We also have it on our cell phones.
Mark😃

I used RoboForm for many years, until it failed me. I could not get it to work, and neither could they... I transferred everything to LastPass, and I now have all my logins in there. Other than a couple of sites which won't let me use the entry, everything works fine. For those few problem sites, I can always cut&paste from the program to the screen.
