Have you noticed that it's getting more difficult to sign into many sites? The ID and password are no longer enough. They have to send a code, get answers to questions, or also sign into Google. I don't like this, especially when I have to find my cell phone, turn it on, wait for it to boot, and then look for the code.

I just signed into Ancestry to see more distant relatives, and I had to follow that up with a sign-in to Google.

Are you sure Google was not just a sign-in option?

I use Ancestry and never had to sign in using Google.
Ancestry did however send a security code to my phone once to log in.
But I told it to remember me (my computer) and no longer need the two step verification for my computers. I think they may have done that to prevent sharing of login credentials. If I sign in using my daughter's account, it will probably sent the second step code to her phone........

I NEVER use Google as an alternate sign-in ANYWHERE.

It’s a security measure. My online banking uses that to access my account, but I don’t have it otherwise.

I so seldom turn off my cell phone or my computer. I'm not criticizing, just curious.

Our desktop is upstairs in the office, my laptop is downstairs in the family room.
I'll go upstairs to do stuff on the desktop and leave my phone in the family room.....

At least I get some exercise.

And I do appreciate the extra security step....

I get these "do you want to sign in with Google" pop-ups a lot on multiple sites. I always refuse. I wish I could just turn it off.

We gave up stairs when we sold our NJ home and built a new home (except for the storage in the attic) in NC (1998). Moved back to NJ in 2011 and now live in a 55+ condo community in our 1489 sq. ft condo. It's adequate, has underground parking, very conveniently located, only 1 mile from our oldest daughter and 8 miles from our younger daughter. Seeing family has always been a highest priority. We are happy!

I make it a practice NEVER to have a site 'remember me'. If they get hacked, your info could be grabbed...

I have used RoboForm password manager for the past 10 years. Mostly trouble free and extremely convenient. We also have it on our cell phones.

"Usually" they only remember login IDs and/or your computer, one still has to enter the PW.

Funny how life is. I’m doing just the opposite of you. 10 years ago when I retired, I moved into a 55+ condo active adult community. Our monthly HOA is now $1,153! My wife and I recently decided to sell the condo and move up to Vancouver Washington to be closer to my adult children who live a couple hours away in Seattle. We’re going to buy A 5 bedroom house again so they can spend weekends with us and have their own rooms. One of the things we always like doing is entertaining with friends and the condo is just not as conducive to that.
By the way, I do have fond memories of living in New Jersey. When we lived in Lake Hiawatha, near Parsippany, my daughter was born in Morristown Memorial Hospital. When we moved to new Monmouth, New Jersey, my son was born in Redbank Hospital.
