I'm giving up on Prime video. With all their ads, it just isn't worth it. Last night, I timed them. Every fifteen minutes, I received ads for 1:30 - 2:30. I hit Mute, close my eyes, and count backwards. The ones linked with FreeVee are even worse, but even with slightly fewer ads, it still ruins the experience.

Not only am I paying for Prime, but Amazon is receiving millions in revenue from the advertisers. There are enough alternatives for movies and TV shows. It's too bad that I can't opt out of the video feature and pay less for Prime. All I like about Prime is the faster, free delivery, so I'll stick with that.

I'm paying the $2.99 per month. We watch too much stuff on Prime Video, and I can't stand commercials. You can't take it with you.

I'm waiting for a company to come up with a plan that would say look, we understand how commercials interrupt the viewing experience so we are going to do three minutes of commercials at the beginning of a show, a one-minute commercial halfway through, and three minutes between shows. If it weren't for commercials, all exporters of content would be charging high prices for their downloads. I would rather have some commercials and pay 15-19 for a service than the 70 they charge for the ones that are commercial-free. If I had to pay for all the services I currently receive, the bill would be around 350.00! That would be more than I was paying for cable.

Two years ago I quit the cable service that was charging 235.00 a month and started steaming. Now I pay around 140 a month for most of the year but for five months I add Sling for football and basketball and pay 210. After the Nov. to March period, I drop Sling and go back to the 140-a-month billing.

The difference is 2820 vs. 2030, or a savings of about 65.00 a month.

I got that message last night and then watched a one hour show without signing up for the $2.99 additional charge. There were no commercials. Not certain why. This was a show that's about three years old. Not sure if the age of the show would influence Amazon when to show commercials.

We rent the ones that are not free. The fees are usually between $2.99 - $4.99. We don’t spend much on entertainment. It’s convenient and affordable. We don’t drink alcohol anymore, so the savings are significant - certainly more than the rented movie fees.

My wife & I worked 2 - 3 jobs for many years so we would not have to skimp and scratch in retirement. Now we reap the rewards.

I wish someone would make them turn down the volume on the commercials.

We record everything we want to watch. I never watch commercials. With sports, I stay secure from results and then watch. We have been doing that for many years.
Last week we watched the Super Bowl in 1.5 hours, without the commercials and half-time show. It may not work for everyone, but it's our preference.

We watched a comedy special and the amount of ads were incredible. The show lost all the momentum for the comedy horrible. I would cancel prime, but I have my photos in storage there. If they start charging for that I am gone.

Those are the two best sports to watch.
So you don't pay to watch the grass grow in the summer either. Like I don't.
Sometimes boxing and women's volleyball are pretty good to watch too.

Gripe, gripe, gripe. You suffer from the delusion that "free" things exist. There's no such thing. Somebody has to pay for the cost of everything. The fee you pay for prime doesn't even cover the costs of the "free" transportation on shipments. And yet you complain about ads on Prime video, that pay for the "free" videos you watch. You have no concept of what it costs to run a business today. With that level of naivety, you would be a failure if you tried to run one. I for one, appreciate not paying a monthly charge for Prime videos like Netflix, Paramount, and all the other streaming services--which also are raising their prices and switching to ads because the streaming fee doesn't cover the cost of the service.

Yes, I remember receiving that notice, and I wasn't happy about it. It's like sales tax. It began in the 1960s in NY at 2%. Now, it's 8%. Amazon's ads will always be "limited," limited to a run time less than the movie you're watching. Last year, I paid over $2,100 for subscriptions - not all of them computer-related. $2.99 isn't much, but it's $36 a year (till the price increase). Add that to Adobe, Prime, and all the others, and suddenly, $10 is a huge amount of money.
