Thanks to you . . . again . . . for another great start to my day!!! This car came out when I was in the 9th grade and I thought it was the best thing that Detroit ever made. And to me that is still true. I was the only employee of Bob and Alice Robertson's little grocery on the south side of Fort Worth and they traded their gray '53 Ford for one of these babies in blue. I got to ride in it every week. And look at it every day. Thanks for bringing back those memories and giving an 80-year-old guy a kick-start on a day full of blessings.

I always have thought the '58 is a monstrosity.
Nice photo of it, though.

I think ā€˜57 was the first year Ford outsold Chevy. Maybe Chevy thought it better make a drastic change.

The latter years of Chevy cars were pretty radically styled and visually heavy looking creations, IMO. Quite a contrast from the preceding 50s designs.

My pic is from 1969/1970. The 58 chevy in the background was the car my dad bought repo'd from the bank. He paid $200 for a mothers day gift. I am in the blue coat and it became my first car when I turned 16. If you go 70 on a dirt road you can get them on two wheels.

They were big and heavy and underpowered even with the 348 ci engine, BUT I would have killed to have one when I was 16

Iā€™d kill to have one today!

Beautiful car, I like the previous 3 years better, especially the ā€˜57.

My first car was a 58 Chevy Delray, two door. By the time I got it it had seen better days. Went a year with my left foot out the door as reverse.

Kim, I think many others shared your opinion of the design for this model year and sales figures dropped. However, attitudes have changed recently and the '58 Chevy's are now sought after and prices have soared! Much the same can be said for the 1958 Corvette that was once a scorned model due to it's fake hood louvers , and excessive use of chrome, including the "tusks" on the trunk lid.

Beautiful shot of a beautiful car.
I had a school friend who had the '58 Brookwood Station Wagon variation of this.

My first car was a 58 Belaire, 4 door, 232 zero power straight 6. Many memories in a solid driver. Thanks for posting. Cheers -- Dan.

I had a '57 convertible and, of course, that model year is the iconic Chevy but I've always thought the '58 Impala was a more attractive car.
