On a walk along the Elm Creek this week a came upon a group of Mallards enjoying the open water on a rather nice afternoon. I took a few photographs and continued on my way.

The first photo was right out of the camera and showed promise. The second photo was the result of spending a little time in Affinity Photo making a few changes: removing some trash and playing with the lighting.

Just think, if you removed the trash from the location first, you wouldn't have had to remove the trash in Affinity.

Nice scene!

I had a different Section selected on my first attempt to post this, but I messed up in attaching the photos and had to start over. I forgot to change the Section on the 2nd attempt. Although this photo contained birds, to me it really wasn’t about the birds- it was more to do with the overall scene and with the editing. It probably could go into a few categories and I suspect someone will move it where it fits best.

Couldn’t do that without chasing the birds away

Just a fade out sketch to describe a thought about cropping out all that foreground..

Keep your color, but maybe less foreground ?

Has lotsa potential. I experimented viewing it somewhat brightened up and it still looked "right" (to me). I could more easily see more ducks that way.

Rules prohibit my showing the whole frame.

I tried cropping out the foreground before settling on the final version. My crop reminds me of the smallness of the area that contained so many ducks. It felt better. Strictly subjective. Thanks for your comment.

The foreground is what makes the photo.
