A friend of ours uses AirTags in her luggage, among other places. Recently she took a trip to by plane. Upon arrival, she could not find her luggage, but one similar to it; someone took the wrong suitcase. Tracker said it was a short distance from the airport. Friend told the airline what had happened. Friend got the person with her luggage on the phone and was told by said person that she was on her way to a social event and would meet sometime later to get the problem straightened out. (Uppity?). Friend handed her phone to the airline employee who then told the lady she needed to return the luggage NOW or be subject to arrest for stolen luggage. She immediately returned the luggage. 😄😄

Unfortunately, for some people, what they are doing trumps everyone else.
Glad it came back quickly!

For my son's birthday, I want to get him some of those key tracker tags. Looking at reviews, they all have plusses and minuses. Many of them are described as being too quiet, and some are limited to one brand of phone. I'd appreciate comments about good and bad experiences you've had with them.

I have Apple iTags on my camera strap and camera bag. They work really well.

What kind?

Some use cell phones, and some use a separate "Finder" device. Losing that Finder would make the whole system useless.

Volume would be important, I think.

Easy. Just put a tag on the finder.

That could work with one set because it has two finders. Both sets will arrive today.

So how do they work, like a Geiger counter???

Bluetooth mostly so maybe a 100' range.

The Apple iTag system is a bit different. They hijack the bluetooth on any passing iPhone and relay the location to Apple's iCloud. This is great if not in range of your personal phone, you can get at least an idea as to where it was last seen.

If you are in the vicinity of the tag you are trying to locate a 'radar' indicator show on your phone indicating the distance and direction of where the tag is.

My wife uses them on her keys, I find it useful to find where my cat is hiding.

I've heard good things about Airtags, but I don't want to pay for an iPhone. I have an original iPhone. I wonder if that would work.

The OS in the old phone probably will not support the software.

Yes, older phones aren't much good. I have a Motorola and an older Samsung. The Samsung doesn't usually any apps now.

Two sets were supposed to be delivered today. One arrived by USPS, and the other is still scheduled to arrive by USPS, but I get just one delivery a day. Maybe it will arrive tomorrow.

I ordered the kind that comes with half a dozen "chips" and a remote to make the chip beep, $15- $25, each set.

Below are the answers to (almost) all of your Air Tag Questions . . . I Love my Air Tags.
While your iPhone is the receiver, the Air Tag location will be picked up and the location will be Transmitted By ANY iPhone near the Air Tag's location and the location will be relayed on the net to your iPhone.

Verizon let me keep my S-III, but I recycled it because I no longer had a need for it.
Camera in the new phone.. No need to carry the old one for a camera.
All apps transferred to the new phone.
I could have used it as a paper weight.
