You need to go to Device Manager for your network wireless and ethernet adapters. Turn off "allow to wake" under Power Management tab. My Dell XPS 8900 was doing this too and this fixed it.

I agree with TheShoe. check Settings for Wake on LAN.

I followed these directions, but I don't see "Wake on LAN" in the choices.

This is what I did from my PC:
Device Manger >Network Adapters > right click Dual Band Wireless-AC8260 >Properties >Power Mangement >select Allow this device to wake the computer.

I also did this for my Ethernet Connection.

I have "Intel Ethernet Connection..." The is no Properties tab. Looking further, I clicked on Power Management and unclicked "Allow this device to wake the computer."

Can you be running something in the background? Maybe malware?

I have used a few Intel NUCs for various jobs. One of them turns itself on overnight occasionally. Very annoying. Haven't worried too much yet as it doesn't do it very often.

Yes, I like to keep malware running in the background to keep my protection programs on their toes.

I think I found a solution. Looking online, there are several different sets of directions for preventing self-starting. None of them showed the same steps available on my computer, but I think I worked it out.

Go to -
1. Control Panel
2. Device Manager
3. Network Adapters
4. Select Intel...
5. Power Management
5. Uncheck “Allow this device to wake the computer.”
