When I was using the Dell desktop, it would start up on its own. I somehow solved the problem, but now, Big Red is starting on its own. "Fast Start" is turned off, and it starts in both Hibernate and Shut Down modes. I'll have to look into this. Till I find a solution, I'll turn off the power supply after I shut it down.

If I find out why it's doing that, I'll let you know so you can have yours self-start.

It would be good to know.

Our desktop sleeps 90+% of the time.
I wiggle the mouse (or press any key) to wake it.
Our laptops are always shut down at night.

I haven't set this one to wake up with the mouse or kbd. I have to push the button on the computer. Having the mouse inactive prevents accidental starts if I bump it.

My problem isn't that the computer self-starts. Mine has a cat problem. The on/off button is on top and when the cat jumps up there, at least 50 percent of the time, either starts the computer or shuts it off.

And you think that's just a coincidence, right? You think the cat doesn't know what it's doing, right? 🤣

She also likes to walk across the keyboard when I'm typing. But I never understand what she's writing. It always comes out as meow. Smart kitty but can't speak English.

Do you allow it to wake up based on signals from the network, or timer-initiated tasks? There are other types of events that can awaken it by default. You must pick and choose. I tell mine to awaken only when the space bar is depressed.

I bet Jerry has a network aministrator somewhere started his computer up to check what he did with his computer at least daily. They tried to do it when Jerry isn't there but sometimes he did see that.
