Canon is now researching which retro Canon to bring back in a digital camera. Which ones were your fav retro Canon?
While I have never been a particular fan of retro for retro's sake, or fake penta- prisms for that matter, I do love old cameras .... and still have 5 Nikon F's Black & Chrome Penta prism versions , Photomic versions and an F3.
Always admired the Canon F 1.
I always wondered why when they went digital , Both Canon and Nikon had spectacular Rangefinder models that looked (to me) like perfect templates for Mirrorless cameras.
Nikon & Fujifilm have had success with Retro, Canon has always said something like "We don't do Retro we look to the future....." Well I guess Retro as a marketing tool is getting too big for them to ignore.....
I do think they could have success with a Canon 7 in RF mount, it would give them a smaller form factor, based on a great camera. If they go the F1/ AE1 route they'd be doing exactly what Nikon is doing, better to be original (in my opinion) Or they could make a Leica Q3 out of the Canonette G III...........
Either of those would be somewhat 'Apple Like' ...... not first, but when people see it, they love it........

Are the Nikon cameras direct images of some one camera????
I was under the impression they just have the ‘flavor’ of a camera of that time.

I would much rather see a camera come out that will match the capabilities of current smartphones. Seems to me that going retro or even giving us the current stuff is just money ill spent.
Given the price points of modern ML Cameras, I don't see why an integrated Smartphone/ Pro or Semi Pro Camera combination couldn't be brought to market.
Size stipulations would be pocket sized; good application for Pancake Lenses. Large sensor, True EVF. Back screen for viewing & telephone functions.
Product would allow you to shoot & share high resolution images instantly.

but the average UHHer would want to edit and edit the image before anyone sees it.

Not directly images of any one camera but the prism on the Df (or viewfinder hump on the Zfc and Zf) have the resemblance of the Nikon FM/FE series (these cameras look very much the same) and not of others like F, F2, F3 or FG, FA, EM etc...

Canon 7S ... altho no need to hope and pray for Canon to go that way when I can already choose between the Sony a7-C (new) or the Olympus Pen-F (used). And acoarst, the Fuji X-Pro series is quite retro, but I don't happen to have any lenses for that...
I vote for the Canon 7S too! A digital version would bookend my current 7S. I also love my Fuji X-Pro 1 and its baby brother, the XE-1. Both of these cameras have several later versions.
Be well! Ed

Why colors??????
I remember only Silver and Black from those days.
Colors can be essential. If you have two different colored cameras you can have each one designated for a specific function. Also, if everyone’s camera looks similar then you can tell if your blue camera was stolen. Just saying…..
