Canon has seen how well retro-style digital cameras have sold for Fuji, Nikon, Sony and wants in on this party also.

Cheers

My Fav was the Canon F1, which was rock solid when I used two of them while covering the War In Nicaragua between the Contras and the Sandinistas. One loaded with 400 ASA Tri-X film, the other loaded with 100 ASA Fujichrome transparency film.

I still have one Canon F1, in full working order, and some Canon FD lenses that I use when I teach my students in my university course in 35mm B&W film photography.

Cheers and best to you.

Going further back into my 40+ years using Canon, I also have fond memories of my Canon AE1, and Canon A1, used back in the late 70's when I was on staff at Newsday Newspaper in Long Island, New York, and I was covering the entire NYC/Long Island area.

Cheers

If they adopt the A-1 style it would be better suited for the digital interface (i.e. counting wheels style).

I would much rather see a camera come out that will match the capabilities of current smartphones. Seems to me that going retro or even giving us the current stuff is just money ill spent.

Years ago I went from the FtB to the Ef to the F1. Loved the EF!

Of the three I had, EX-Auto, Ftb, and AE-1, it would be the AE-1.

Without question I would like to see a retro version of Canon's most versatile battleship, the F-1N. Along with the 'Speedfinder' capability.
There no longer seems to be 'System' like there were in the past.
I bought this in 1984 and put this body through hell and back. It is still as tight as the day I got it. Just replaced the light seals last month for the first time.

Thanks for the A-1 photo. As you do, my AE-1 and A-1 are still in my possession. And they will be! Really great cameras with thousands of photos taken with each. My many rolls of 35mm film, slides and B&Ws and prints, have been digitized using the Epson V600. What a grand review of my photo history!
