A simple composite of two images taken in a disused prison. Your critique is welcome.
You nailed the mood, David!
We try to project ourselves into how this man is thinking... and that is not a happy place to be. The judge said for life... now what?
Very thought-provoking. Who is the woman behind the screen? Is the man's cell on the far side of the doorway or is it the area with the red-painted floor? (red??) Is this a nightmare or a vision?
Wonderfully created, Dave!
None of the prisons that I've ever called home had red floors. The floor in each and every one of them was a dingy, somewhat heel-scarred, institutional gray-green, so it's difficult for me to identify with a prison cell floor that's colored 'royal red' and almost appears to be (probably cheaply, but it's difficult to tell) carpeted at that.
As well, none of those various prison cell doors were ever left completely ajar, either. Not for long, anyhow. They were either closed (98% of the time) or they were open (the other 2% of the time, as in those rare moments when they'd thrown me in or when they'd pulled me out, kicking, screaming, and probably uttering harsh language).
It's your image though, not mine. But regardless our separate realities, and however much my verisimilitude may be being strained, and/or however much fantastical hopefulness (given the possibility that I may again reside in yet another prison cell, and I would not in the least mind if it were carpeted!) I might be able to muster, I would suggest you 'point color' swap the Royal Red out for a more appropriate, more soothing!, Institutional Gray-Green.

Thanks Linda. The woman is the model of the day. Not quite my style and I've not used the images for much at all but here I think she fits in. I'll be commenting on the floor when I respond to cany!

I'm sorry to disappoint Cany but I'm afraid the floor must stay that slightly jarring red colour - it contrasts so nicely with the greens of the image! Apart from that, we English do like red floor paint, but I'm not sure why - perhaps it is supposed to replicate our old-fashioned quarry tiles. In the jail the entire 'communication' area (from which all the cell corridors lead) was this colour. Come over here next time you're thinking of a short sentence, you might enjoy the luxury!
Now, as far as the door being open (it only leads to the exercise yard), I think our man is dreaming - none of it is real. Thanks for the 'inside' information.

I'm glad it works Veronica! Personally I hated the place - I'd booked a full day but gave up at lunchtime, everything felt just too....restrictive!
