We have had 2 kids in the 20 years we have lived here. But I still buy Mounds -- just in case--(yum).

My wife goes through a charade every year with candy

Pretty soon, she will come home with pounds of candy...for the kids...just in case.

We haven't had a kid at our door on Halloween in 30 years...

It's good to be prepared.

I think a lot of communities hold Halloween parties for the kids at civic centers etc.
Some churches have parties also. With all the twisted people out there can you blame them?
In the Humid Subcontinental Climate (41degrees North and 81 degrees West in which I live, weather plays a big factor.

Dear Jerry,

Thanks you for your tip about buying my favorite candy. Sorry because it doesn't work, just look at your hands !

Sounds like we are Scouts with the saying of, "Be Prepared " which most of us are , " just in case" , right?

Now everyone have a safe Halloween, please !

One year, probably 2020, we had no one show up. It used to be that the street would be full of cars that were full of kids.
Last year I bought an $18.00 bag of candy at Costco. Want to know how much was left at end of the night? All of it. Didn't have any T-or-Ters. I'm still debating where I will buy any candy this year. If I do it won't be much and it will be something I like.

If only this situation was the worst problem in the world . . . . But as a borderline diabetic I have to be careful.

When you buy Halloween candy this year, be careful! Do not buy your favorite kind. I did that, and now my two bags of Mounds are gone! I'll have to go out and buy something that I don't want to eat. I thought I could resist, but I couldn't. We've averaged just fifteen kids the past few years, so I guess buying two bags of candy was overkill. It was delicious, though.

Don't feel bad Jerry. I bought 3 jumbo bags of my favorites; paydays, reeses, and almond joys. Haven't had a begger around our street in years. I'm already sick of the reese.

Even during Covid we had 150-200, Last year we set a new record 302 before we ran out of candy. (Large groups are always brought by car or van, likely from TJ, only 5 miles away.) There is also an app on Nextdoor that people post that they will have candy to give out.

How could you afford to give candy to 302 of them little beggers? What did you give them, 2 M&M's; no not packs of them, just 2?

No one is coming, so I’m going out tomorrow and buy Reeces Cups, Mounds, almond Joys, M&Ms and Hershey bars - pays to be prepared.

I especially like those trick or treaters who are old enough to shave and drive.
