I think it was Andrew Jackson that was written about in the book

Ah, yes. I've read several stories about that. I think it was a film, too.

Jerry, scroll back up to see the one I posted above this. Here's another. Same house. One day my husband (Joe) was jogging, in the middle of a 5 acre cotton field behind the house, running with his head down. Our two dogs were running along with him.
Suddenly the dogs stopped, hair bristle up, teeth showing. Joe stopped and looked up. There, 2 or 3 feet in front of him was a man, dressed in black pants, black boots, black shirt, BIG black hat and a long black duster, holding a black cane. Problem was it was just solid black where his face should be. Remember, this was in the MIDDLE of a 5 acre field. Nobody saw him come there. He just stood there. Joe turned to take off back to the house, looked back and he was gone. How he got out of the middle of the field that fast was anybody's guess but hubby sure was sick by the time he got in the back door.
That night, our dogs were inside for the night. We were awakened by a dog barking outside our bedroom window. I went to the back door, turned on the back porch light and our neighbor's dog, Daisy came running to our back steps. I grabbed my mop, smacked her with it (lightly)and told her to go home. Didn't hear any more from her that night.
The next morning when I opened the back door to take out some garbage, Daisy was laying dead by the back door. I called my neighbor and told him what happened. He took her to the vet to see if they could tell what killed her. Buckshot! We never heard a shot.

Another time, same house.
Like the old saying, I wake at the drop of a pin. That's me.
One morning, about 2 AM, I heard someone walking down the long hall between our kitchen and bedroom. I clamped my hand over Joe's mouth and whispered in his ear that someone was coming down the hall.
There was a street light shining through the bedroom window across the hall. It lit the doorway to our room. Joe waited until he saw a shadow in our doorway and grabbed his gun, jumped out of bed (told me to stay there)...right! I got right behind him and followed him into the hall. Nothing was there...BUT, the door at the end of the hall that led into the kitchen was CLOSED and we NEVER closed it. All the doors and windows were still locked from the inside. Figure that one out for me if you can.

That was just one house. The last house we lived in....you wouldn't believe those stories either. There were a LOT of them over 49 years...not bad, some even funny!

In 1965 we moved into a house (to rent) that many people told us not to move into. They said it was haunted...oh man was it ever. They told us that the living room had the sound of a rocking chair rocking as long as the door to the hall was closed. They said the rocking sound stopped if you opened the door and didn't start again until you closed it. Right on the money! People would visit and we'd show them what happened if you closed the door. It made believers out of all of them. Two more things that happened there were harmless in the end but were quite scary at the beginning. Then we lived in our last house for 49 years with something that constantly let us KNOW it was there but was not scary and even sometimes funny. We both saw it several times and felt it 3 or 4 times a week.
In 1965 we moved into a house (to rent) that many ... (show quote)

Definitely creepy!

You are entitled to your opinion. But when you have been face to face with pure evil during an exorcism (or whatever term people want to use), your ideas of superstition and logic go flying out the window. Someday, we will all understand. Until that day, be well and keep chasing the light and shadows in the photography realm.

This is a common theme.
The only people that these things happen to, are ardent believers.
People who don't believe ib ghosts never experience them..
Same with witchcraft, demons, possessions, stigmata, etc.
Many historical exorcisms were merely breaking the will of abused children.
We lost a minor evil in 2020, these days we have majors in Russia and Hamas.
As long as it doesn't affect us personally, we basically ignore the evil in men's hearts and deeds.

Would love to see your sources for such a generalized statement that is so obviously off the mark in my experience. I do agree with you about the major evils the world is facing at the moment. You can toss in the genocide in Rawanda, Syria and a dozen other hot spots. The world is a pretty messed up place. Just hope people can keep shining a light into the darkness.

The world we live in is a three dimensional plane and the 'ghost' 'spiritual' 'whatever' are real and exist in the other planes or dimensions of existence. We should not be worried about this stuff. It has been noted that people who do not fall victim to these manifestations are not susceptible and influenced by them. Ok, so the religious crowd and also the scientific crowd can chew this us all day but these manifestations happen for a reason I personally believe they are demonic in nature to place an idea in peoples minds that these lost ones of ours are there for us. Do not be deceived by these things, they manifest in our dimensional plane to confuse us and deceive us into believing in something we cannot prove not grasp. So at the end of the day, cast them away as what they are.
My story today.
Bruce.

Rented the second floor of a ca: 1800 house for a year or so. I really secured the doors and any or all access from the first floor because we (wife 2 daughters) thought someone was coming into the house and watching us - especially at night (there was reason to suspect the downstairs neighbors).

One day I got a new book, and as I’m wont to do, sat up and read until long after the rest of the family went to bed. About three AM, I sensed someone walking into the room and staring at me. Thinking it was my wife telling to ‘come to bed you’ve gotta get up in three hours for work’, I turned ready to say ‘OK, OK, I’m coming!’.

It was a much older woman, in a blue house robe, arms crossed, just shaking her head.

I did a quick double-take - and she was gone!

I ran through the house, checking every room, every door, turning on every light, opening every closet - and found only the family - all soundly asleep and seeming undisturbed by anything, even my frantic searching. Nothing.

We moved out soon afterwards.

Well Tony, what was her intent ?
did the manifestation leave you with a mind belief in the after life ?
From all my years, 55+, of looking at his stuff, I have realized they are manifestations to mold our beliefs into something bigger down the road of life.
I too have lived in what was suppose to be a haunted house, I lived there alone and never had any sensory experiences of this. And I was a real pagan at the time but did not believe in this mess for some reason, This was back in the mid 1970s. One thing I do know is that in this life time of ours we will never have the answers to these many strange happenings.
Peace out bro.

Here in the south, there’s an old legend about a bird visiting the window of a dead or dying person’s room. As my father in law was dying in this house, a Brown Thrasher, a species we had never seen in the 50 years this house has had feeders, began pecking on the window to the room where he lay, and kept watch outside the window, occasionally pecking on it, until he died a few days later. After that, for a year or two the same bird visited our feeder daily and would sit and stare into the window, often for many minutes. The Thrasher’s progeny still exhibit the same behavior, staring into the room where we have his ashes in a Walnut box on the mantle. Perhaps just coincidence, but we believe otherwise and we find it comforting. Not a ghost story, but something a bit outside our normal realm of experience.
