Some of Chrysler's concept cars over the decades. All shot at this year's Lime Rock Race Track labor Day event, enjoy!
Excellent series of some beautiful exotics. I could see me in that Chrysler Atlantic.

yes, one sweet looking car, but according to the magazines and the test drives, after it's drop dead gorgeous lines it falls short on overall performance! But, with something that looks this good, who cares about performance! Thanks Alberio!
Interesting post of some rather interesting styling exercises, I really like the presentations. The rear view of the 1st car makes me think that Ford remembered seeing it and incorporated it into their "Bullet Birds."

Maybe they put an old Slant Six in it. I could think of many Big Block wedge engines to give it life.

well, they tried something else. Many of the cars that the Atlantic emulated were from the thirties, like some of the Bugatti's and Talbot Lago's from that period. There's an amazing similarity to those cars in the Atlantic! And, they all had inline 8's under the hood. So, what Chrysler did was to mate 2 Neon twin cam 4 cylinder motors together to produce their inline 8. And it actually pumped out over 350hp. But, a combination of the overly large wheels and tires being driven by a transaxle from one of their other cars basically strangled whatever power was coming out of that bastard inline 8 they cobbled together. For the most part every component under the body was nothing more than odds and ends from their existing cars, and handling and overall performance suffered because of it. Let's face it though, the car was never designed to go into production, it just had to sit at car shows and look pretty, and it did that very well!
BTW, a slant 6 did go into one of their concepts, the Plymouth XNR, but IMO, that car is hideous looking, and "they" thought it was sporty enough to compete with Corvettes and the earlier two seater Tbird! They had to be smoking something!
Beautiful shots!! The Chrysler Atlantic seems to have taken styling ques from Bugatti.
Very nice work, Great array of cars. I've seen the '41 Phaeton and a couple of other Chrysler concepts that weren't at that show. But the rest were new to me Thanks for the posting.

thanks so much Frank! At some point in the mid and later fifties the Adventurer became a very powerful car like the 300 Chrysler, hemi powered with dual 4 barrel carbs!

Thank you, at least 3 others were at the show that I did not post, including the turbine powered one and that awful looking Plymouth XNR
