This is clearly a case of user error. The Apple Silicon Macs work very well. Reach out to Adobe and Canon if you have questions. Don't blame the computer.

It’s much easier to blame Apple than to fix the problem for him though😀😀.

I just purchased a Macbook Pro M1 for my photography needs. I should have done more research. First I find that my Canon printers (a wide format and an all in one) are not compatible. No matter how they are configured, I cannot select paper type (only photo paper). Same result for Photoshop or Apple Photos. Second , some of my photoshop plugins that I frequently use will not install. It does not matter which version of Photoshop that I use.
Unfortunately, I will be returning this item.

My first advice is take a deep breath. The Apple Silicon processors are great for Photography, but DID require updated drivers for some printers and software updates from most applications. By now all of that is mostly done, and nearly every software company or printer manufacturer has a special "Apple M silicon processor read me"
If you bought a new camera and had an issue , would you return it without reading the manual? Sometimes progress requires a bit of work on our part.
Depending on the age of your printer updates may take longer, with newer hardware being updated first, but if yo reach out, you can usually find help. I can tell you that in my experience the Mac OS is pretty good at identifying peripherals that need to be updated, and often automatically will find new drivers.
You can also check software for Hardware requirements. Chances are your new Mac Mini will bee fine for the latest versions of all your software
Good Luck
Keep calm

I concur with all the positive statements about the new Apple M series. Everything is blazingly fast, including de-noising programs such as Topaz or DXO. All updated plugins work fine, as do my Canon Pro series printers with latest drivers. I routinely run LRC, PS, Topaz Photo AI, Safari, and Mail concurrently without memory issues.

Sadly, that is all too common.

Most of my life has been spent around technology. I have learned to Read The *Fine* Manual when I start to blame the maker of the technology.

One thing folks don't realize is that the mere existence of a user manual is an excellent indicator that the product works. I used to write manuals. That's how I know that. When the device or software or tool does not work as its maker intended, a proper manual cannot be written!

Unfortunately, these days, a bit of digging on manufacturer web sites is needed to find manuals and their supplements, and sometimes, the updates to application software, operating system software, and device driver software.

My pro-100, and two hp office printers all work fine on my MacBook Air m-1. The pro100 is wired up. Be sure everything is on the same Wi-Fi network. Then you should be able to use AirPrint just fine. I have a third hp desktop in a different state and when I’m there with my laptop and have changed to that network, everything works seamlessly.

Check on the Cannon site for Printer Drivers for Mac computers (assuming you already had them working with a Windows machine). Good luck! I doubt you’ll have to give up your printers.

Slight terminology clarification. AirPrint is an Apple printing system/driver; it will work over Wi-Fi but shouldn’t be confused with Wi-Fi printing.

The latest Canon driver for the Pro-100 from the Canon site works with Ventura or earlier with a Wi-Fi connection on an M2 MacBook Air.

When adding a printer the Canon driver could take several minutes to show up, so folks sometimes select the first driver that appears (which is the Apple AirPrint driver). It is a very limited capability driver and folks complain that their printer doesn’t work as it used to.
