I'm surprised that typewriters...electric or manual...aren't on the list. And here's one that I hesitate to add to the list because of the memories it may elicit...the enema bag.

We haven't had a telephone landline for over ten years. I have about 3 or 4 turntables and close to 1,000 LPs. Also have over 200 cassette tapes and have some 8 track tapes and a stereo that can play them. Also have a couple of reel to reel tape decks and the tapes to play on them.

How about crystal radios.and let's not forget about messenger calls.for those who have never heard of a messenger call it's where someone would call the operator to place a messenger call mostly to mexico.as an operator at the time back in 1974 I would call the Mexico operator and tell them where a particular person was located from what my customer would relay to me she would in turn get a ring down circuit ( a party line)and start ringing.a person would answer in a remote area somewhere and the operator would tell them we needed to send a messenger to some kind of ranch or village down there.the person at the toll station would ask a cab driver, a guy on a bike,a horse back rider, or someone on a mini bike to take the message to a particular person at that remote area.it was usually under $20 .the cab driver knew the area and perhaps knew that that person had no transportation so he would have to bring that person back to the toll station to call back so he would make more money and after the call was made the cab driver would take that person back for another cab fair.in the meanwhile when that person would get to the toll station they would call the operator who would call us AT&T operators who would complete the call to the party who initiated the call.it was usually to relay a message of someone passing.and that my fellow hoggers was a messenger call.

I miss the old game of "Jarts" which were large lawn darts. I also miss my brother whom I hit when throwing one.šŸ˜

CB radios are alive and well. With the current sun cycle allowing e-skip, the CB SSB channels are crowded with operators making contacts all over the world!

wall phones, landline of course

I have a triple bundle from Frontier: Internet, FIOS TV, and Landline. I called them up a while ago, and asked what monthly price would be if I dropped Landline...they said that dropping Landline and going from a triple bundle to a double bundle, would only reduce the total price by a couple of dollars...so I stay with the triple bundle.

Thinking back many years, I had an IBM computer with several sizes of drive slots. Remember the Zip drive? That didn't last long.

From 1996 to 2001, we used Zip and Jaz drives at our photo lab, for elementary school yearbook pre-press prep output (PDF page files we sent to our sister yearbook printing division). We had over 2000 cartridges for them, which would barely get us through one year. The drives were notoriously unreliable. It was a relief to phase in CD-ROMs (which have now all but disappeared).

My comments on some of these:

wall phones, landline of course - got rid of line 2 years ago, wall phone still hanging (dead) in kitchen

party lines - had when I was a childā€¦ but Iā€™m in later 70s

Ice cream cups with wooden spoons - ALWAYS hated wooed spoons, used only when no other choice, tried to avoid touching my teeth

buckle on roller skates with a metal key - remember our daughter using thoseā€¦ and skinned knees

crinolines and girdles - would anyone notice if a man wore a girdleā€¦ to control the roll gained lately?

folding paper maps - have a couple

photograph albums. - wish I had my momā€™s album sā€¦ long enoug to scan or photo themā€¦ then our daughter would treasure them if given the chance

tablecloths - wife keeps on dining room tableā€¦ rotates to match season/holiday

television antennae - wish I had one that had good reception

record players - they are coming back but I gave away a truck load of records years ago

I have several old phones. My son uses them as props in movies occasionally, and they're good for checking a wall outlet for the portable phone.

When we moved into our house, we had a party line. What a ridiculous idea!

I wonder if any kids got splinters from those wooden spoons.

I still have dozens of paper maps.

I have at least a dozen photo albums upstairs. I should scan all those old photos.

I have a cabinet stuffed to overflowing with tablecloths. We eat at the dining room table only for special occasions. Right now, I have a computer on it - messing around with drives and memory.

I don't think I have any actual record players, but I do have several turntables.

She left out kerosene lanterns, flintlock rifles and powder horns, chariots, military suits of armor, horse pulled street cars, cloaks for warmth and fashion, coal and wood fueled stoves, spinning wheels, butter churns etc., etc. Seems like time to redo the list.

Electric carving knives? Picked one up at the thrift store for a couple of bucks. There is no better tool for cutting a foam mattress, or foam rubber of any sort.

I still have all of my albums. As well as my component stereo system. I still enjoy listening to music. My music.
