My car was stolen out of my driveway last week. While driving on thruway a high speed chase with police ensued. Car stopped and robbers jumped out and ran. Apparently, car ran out of gas-😊. However, car was banged up (which insurance won’t cover because I didn’t do damage). Police think it’s related to car ring in New Jersey. Time to rethink home security and lock your cars.

What a bunch of bolonee! The car was stolen & as a result. I'd take them to court if contacting the BBB couldn't get any results.

In 1958, I bought my first "brand new" car: a Skoda (from Chekoslovakia). There were only 38 of them sold in the United States; and, half of them were sold in California. . And, we each knew the other Skoda owners! Within 6 months, I had begun leaving the key in the ignition. . HOPING it would be stolen! However, that never happened! Probably for the same reason that I wanted it stolen: I could rarely get the car started! Two years later, I pushed it into a dealer's used car lot; and, traded it for a 1954 Cadillac. . .They gave me $50, trading it in on the Cadillac!

With new cars, locking is so much easier. I just push a button on the outside door handle.

She was stonewalled. It is the car that was insured, not the driver. Even if the driver is someone not authorized to drive the vehicle, the insurance company is liable for the damage. (Unless, of course, there is something the woman is not telling.)

We have one of the most stolen cars in North America….the 2022 Honda CRV. Not only do we lock it at all times, the fobs are kept in an RFID wallet AND we use the Club, an old but trusted device.

A club will not defeat an experienced car thief. They know how to get them off quickly.

During his 7th day of rest, God finally got around to inventing "The Garage"
However, you still need to keep it locked up

My dad once said “If you pay for ‘The Club’ you’ve already been robbed.

It was a white BMW that was stolen, and she had "full coverage," whatever that means.

I’ve read the Chicago Mayor wants to blame the theft of a car on the manufacturer.

I wonder if there is something in the policy about "reasonable precautions" (or something like that) – e.g., locking up your expensive car would be reasonable . 🤔

Not surprised, NY, Chicago, all blues states and cities. They are so stupid they get what they voted for. Oh yea, let me hope this does not get moved to the attic for stating the truth.

Excellent security measures with one exception. That "Old but trusted device" is next to useless because despite what most people believe modern steering wheels are not made of steel. Thieves are able to saw through steering wheels quickly and remove the "Club" without even breaking a sweat. I know this from personal experience having had a 1993 Honda Accord stolen three times in as many years.

It is possible that she did not have comprehensive coverage which would likely allow the insurance company to argue that unless specific damages to the vehicle were attributable to the theft and/or subsequent police chase then they would deny damage claims. In their view, they do not want to pay to repair damages that were already present at the time of the theft. I personally had a Honda Accord stolen three times and my insurance covered damages that were the result of the thefts but not any scratches or dents that were not.
