Agree. If you have the Beta installed it becomes the primary PS editor from LR.
In PS you can add another editor, which would be the stock version, and choose that as your editor from LR.

I have found that in many cases if I leave a photo I have finished working in PS and then ask LR to open a different image in PS, it pops right into PS. Most times, not every time.

It is also interesting to me that on YouTube none of the regular 'pros' ( Isubscribe to about a dozen) have said not one word about this issue.

There was a new version of ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) available, version 15.5. The old version was 15.4.1. I installed it hoping that maybe this would fix the Photoshop Beta problem with version 25.0. -- It didn't!

I have returned to Photoshop Beta 24.7, which also matches the current official release 24.7. And it is back to using the version of Photoshop that I currently have open.

Back to "Wait Mode" waiting on Adobe to fix the problem.

I agree. I went looking and none of the Photoshop Beta YouTubes that I found were new enough to have encountered this problem.

Adobe is aware of it. They're the ones who asked me to install an additional PS editor, selecting the Non-beta version..

I installed/updated PS (beta) to version 25.0 and had the same edit in issue.
Adobe support shared that I had to delete PS using their removal app on Adobe and then install the previous version 24.XX.

I suggested they remote in and do it since I could not find a previous version. They remoted in and spent and hour 'fixing' Lr to PS ... and stated "this is a known issue and I should use the old version until an update is issued.

Works fine now

I just tried to export from Lightroom to Photoshop Beta 24.07 using Control E and there was no problem. Using Windows 11 Pro

it defaults to the Beta version if its installed. An issue when you really wanted the NON-Beta?

The solution to this, assuming that PS 24.7 and Beta 24.7 are the one you have installed, is first, launch the non-Beta version first, and then do Edit-in from Lightroom. And since the non-Beta is already launched, then LR will send the image to that version.

The opposite is also true. If the Beta version is the one currently launched, then LR will send it to the Beta version.

Of course, if you go ahead and install v 25.0 Beta, this behavior breaks.

It’s pretty easy to set up a link to the non-Beta in your plug-ins. Then you can right click on the image and choose “Edit in” and then choose either version from the list.

For those who might not know... Best practice for using beta software or beta operating systems is to install them on a computer that is not used for anything you care about. Does anyone actually do that? Typically, yes, but ONLY after they have been burned by losing valuable data on their main computer!

I ran an IT development project in the early 1990s. Our company, a school portrait lab, put ten customers on the beta test. Not one of them heeded our warnings to TEST the software, rather than to run their businesses on it. Despite signing agreements not to use the software for mission-critical work, one of them had a catastrophic mechanical hard drive failure — a head crash. It caused them to lose three weeks' worth of data entry. Fortunately, it was all backed up with paper. They backed out of the trial...

That sort of woke up the remaining beta testers! Nightly backups became routine.

I think my solution is going to be to wait for Adobe to figure out the fix and then install it.

I have both the 2023 version of PS installed and the 2024 Beta version and am having the same problem getting my LRC images open in the Beta version. What I do is open the 2023 version and LRC asks me if I want to process in the 2023 version and I say yes and the the image transfers over. Hope this helps.

After reading the postings on this subject, I decided to investigate this situation. I am running CC on a Win 11 laptop. I have noticed that if the file type is RAW PS B (2024) will open but the image does not, however, if the file type is JPG the image will open in PS B. Could the problem be with the Camera Raw module?

Here's the bottom line. I just contacted Adobe about the problem. Evidently there is a glitch in the new PS Beta 25.0 version. They suggest deleting this version and installing the 24.7 version which doesn't have this problem. I went on line and had one of their people uninstall v25 and reinstall v24.7 and it works.
