Problem with Photo edit in PS from LR

All of a sudden the LrC function "Photo Edit in Photoshop" stopped working for me. When I attempt this function, PS does open but not my image. I have the latest version of both LrC and PS. I can drag a random image from my desktop into PS and it opens normally. So it seems that there is some issue between LrC and PS. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same trouble. Adobe seems to be aware. I can't figure out if it is a flaw in LrC or Photoshop. The answer may be to be patient until they figure it out and fix it.

I (and numerous) others experienced the same problem --i.e., while in LrC, 'right click> edit in> edit in Photoshop', which initiated Ps normally, but the image you were transferring wouldn't appear-- but only when the most recent iteration of Photoshop Beta (Ps 2024) was installed and was the Ps version designated as the primary editor.

One workaround was to designate the secondary editor to (regular, non-Beta) Ps and bounce the LrC image to it rather than the primary editor (Ps Beta). Alternately, the image you were working on could be opened normally --in either Ps or in Ps Beta-- but doing so meant that anything (entering lens corrections, any adjustments, etc., you'd done in LrC would not be applied, so it was as if you were starting on the image from scratch.

What I ended up doing was to access Adobe's Creative Cloud where I then deleted Ps Beta 2024, and re-installed the previous version of Ps B (Ps 2023, which allowed transfers appropriately) which allowed me to transfer/bounce the image from LrC to Ps B or to the regular, most recent version of Ps [24.7]. Then DO NOT allow the next (most recent) update to Ps B; instead, wait for Adobe to address the malfunction --that they're fully aware of-- then DO update with whatever update/fix it is that'll likely soon come.

You did not mention that you had the Beta Ps installed, so presumably you don't. In any event, one possible cure to the malfunction you described would be to similarly access Adobe Creative Cloud, uninstall your current version of PsC, then re-install the previous version (that worked as you were accustomed to).

It seems that everyone is having this problem. I've been experiencing it for about a week. Adobe seems to be taking its time fixing this. If you have PS Beta installed, it may help to uninstall it.

I just did what you suggested and it now works again.

For me, if I'm not in a hurry, I just wait a few minutes for LR to give me an error message about can't open PS (even if it is already open [regular or beta]), I click OK on that error message and the image shows up in PS.

This is true for a PC running the latest WIN 11 and a MAC running the latest Mac OS.

Thank you all. Rolling PS beta back to the previous version (24.7) seemed to have resolved the issue.

And install the previous version.

Rolled it back to v 24.7 (beta) and it is at least working again.

*************************************************

In community.adobe.com, this problem has stretched into 34 pages. On page 33, an Adobe employee in Korea has said that the problem is a compatibility issue between ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) and the Beta version of Photoshop v 25.0 in which ACR can't work with v 25.0.

There was no compatibility issue when the Beta version was called v 24.7.

Yes. I’ve found that if I wait a few minutes I get an error and as soon as I clear it the image opens in PS.

I'm running Lightroom Classic 12.4 and Photoshop 24.7.0 on a 2020 M1 MacBook Air with MacOS 13.5, and do not have this problem. Hitting Command + E always loads the current image from Lightroom Classic into Photoshop.

Beta software is the likely suspect... Beta means that you're TESTING software for the developer. You may, and probably will, find bugs. In fact, they hope you do, and that you report them! Developers of complex systems such as these can never test their own work well enough to shake out all the problems that users will find, even if they turn out to be fairly obvious. There are simply too many moving parts, and it takes thousands, if not tens of thousands of people, to find most of them.

That's been my approach as well and it eventually works.
