This is awesome, Linda, and a good reminder to stop and look at scenes we pass everyday. Unexpected colors, wonderful textures and the birds lend us a perspective as to just how massive the rocks are. Well done.

Basalt rock formations can be millions of years old. Lichen (at least three species are in this photo) can live thousands of years. The three swallows flying here are probably four years old. The bright green of these rock-clinging plants grew in a couple of months. Nature is awesome.

Interesting shot, colours and textures, all as others have said Linda. I struggled to find the birds though and thought you’d inadvertently included a dead seabird when I spotted an extended lone wing! Later I realised it was joined to a bird in flight!!
