Basalt rock formations can be millions of years old. Lichen (at least three species are in this photo) can live thousands of years. The three swallows flying here are probably four years old. The bright green of these rock-clinging plants grew in a couple of months. Nature is awesome.
Wow, textures, tones and colors!

Texture, texture, texture!

The rock is beautiful.
Dozens, if not hundreds, of people pass by it daily and probably never see the diversity and beauty. Another reason I'm so grateful for my photography hobby and love of nature.
Great study in colors and textures Linda. Took me a long time to find only one Cliff Swallow

I am with you on your appreciating our
"photography hobby and love of nature" comment, Linda, and I firmly believe that most photographers (particularly nature and wildlife Photographers) are equipped with more sensitive eyes for the wonders of nature we see every day.
I enjoy your photo.

Thanks for your interest, Jack!
Swallow locations
1. 2 o'clock a couple of inches from the green bush near top left
2. Nearly straight across from #1 to a couple of inches from right edge of frame (below rust-colored lichen) is a silhouette. Could be shadow, but from sun location, am pretty sure it's a silhouette.
3. Lower right side, below some yellow lichen. Wings are almost invisible, so look for a white belly
Which one did you find? I wouldn't be surprised if there are more than three!

Thanks much. Great to hear you're in that class; we are very fortunate, indeed.
