It seems to be a great camera but I'll stick with my D850. It may not be the latest and greatest anymore but it sure takes wonderful images. And it's paid for.

"And it's paid for"

Those words are the incentive to keep what I have, at least that is what the wife tells me.

My two cameras are 17 and 13 years old.

(quote)"Move over, Godzilla! The Nikon Z8 is demolishing Japan's sales rankings – it's the best-seller at every major camera store.

The Nikon Z8 is off to a great start, ranking first at all five major camera stores. It's amazing that the Z8 is ranked first not only at camera stores with high-end models such as Yodobashi, Map Camera, and Fujiya Camera, but also at Bic and Kitamura, which have relatively low-priced models."

Cheers

Yeah, saw this at NikonRumors and posted it to the "Los Angeles Times Picks Canon" thread because the OP there (he who doesn't care) claimed that Nikon sales were waning to the point that they were fighting it out with Fuji and Olympus

I see you posted it there today as well. He doesn't like his bubble bursting.

Let's see how well the Z8 is selling after all 50 people wanting it get it in Japan by end of July.

I guess it is loads more people than the folks wanting Canon fullframe mirrorless in Japan for sure. LOL

Then why is Canon the hottest selling camera in Japan by a large margin and Nikon is at Pentax and Olympus level?

Why would what is popular in Japan be of any interest to anyone who is not in Japan?

So glad I don't care what camera is most popular in Japan,

I don't care who used what.
I don't keep score.
I'm just concerned with what I use.

Like all photography gear in recent years, ridiculously over priced...the cheapest I've seen is AUD$7,000...

Actually my Canon R7 was about the same exact price as my 7D was when I purchased it about 12 years ago.
Yet capabilities of the R7 are way beyond the 7D. Making the R7 a real bargain and actually cheaper if inflation is taken into consideration.

If your remark is in jest, OK, but if you're serious what kind of response is that? Totally uncalled for. gwilliams is passing on some pertinent info. and I'm sure a lot of us find it interesting. I do. This is an informational forum about photography, is it not? From what I've seen Gerald is a pretty knowledgeable guy and a very good photographer. Probably better than most here.

I do. I am a Sony shooter, and I am happy to see Nikon coming out with a great camera. Competition spurns innovation and keeps prices in check. That is good for all of us.
