We spent the last couple of weeks on the Ft Peck Reservoir fishing. We camped in the Hell Creek drainage, this area is famous amongst Paleontologist....lots of dinosaur fossils have been discovered in this area.
Had a few first's for us this trip.....saw about 6 antelope swimming across the lake, it was about 3 miles across where they were trying to swim across it. Not sure if they made it or not! I was able to finally capture a Tern diving, hitting the water and flying away...even though it came up empty and didn't get a fish...it was still fun to see that the sequence of photo's were all in focus!!! Yaaaa lol And we saw a Northern Pike swimming on top of the water - he must have just ate a large meal and wasn't able to go down but the really weird thing about that is - it let us get close enough to it to actually get it in the net!
We caught lots of species of fish this trip: Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Golden Eye, Drum, Perch and Croppies. Walleye ranged from 15 to 30 inches and we kept 17 of the 20/22 inchers for eating.
