Jerry, I have been using Viasat for the last 4 years and I am very pleased with them , I had Hughes Net when I moved here when I called for the re-installation the contractor never returned any of my three calls, I canceled H/N had a little trouble but they finally sent me a box with return shipping paid and I returned their equipment.
I called Viasat and my installation was completed the next day.

Hughes Net and Abe’s of Main. Run away from both. My son in law signed up with Hughes Net when we first moved to NE Texas. Terrible service and even worse support. Rude customer service. He cancelled and it took months and the threat of a lawsuit before they finally closed the account.

Spectrum raised my rates recently. I called to see if I could negotiate better terms - The answer - NOPE.

A couple weeks later I called to cancel my TV, and just keep internet. Guess what....All sorts of price concessions were suddenly available. I now have internet at about half of what I was paying previously.

It won’t last.

My only price concession was to give me "Essential TV" for $104. That doesn't include any broadcast TV - regular TV, like ABC, CBS, NBC. Add the $80 for Internet to that, and it's not much of a savings. I would probably need a DVR ($$) since they ended support for Tivo.

I've been watching Hulu (free), and it's not bad. Although it has commercials, they're shorter and less frequent than Sling TV ($45/month). I'll try calling Spectrum again today, but it's not easy to speak to a person.

Hulu is OK and you can pay for no commercials. They also carry news such as CNN (if you care). The downside is that with no commercials, the news is a day old. In the end, I settled for Spectrum internet (until Google Fibre gets to my house) plus YouTube TV and a few premium channels. When it’s all said and done, it’s still expensive, but $60/month less than I was paying for Spectrum cable, and all my streaming services include either DVR or the ability to download. Not ideal, but the best I’ve been able to find with the channels I want.

Yes, "not ideal." The most important thing is to cancel TV before they bill me again in three days. If I want regular TV from them and a DVR, it will cost even more than I'm paying now.

I now have 1,000mbps, new modem, TV, Internet, DVR, and a Samsung tablet for $132.73 a month - for three years. My phone is through Ooma, and I pay only the tax - $6.71.

I have Spectrum for Internet and TV, and they both work. I have about a week left on Sling TV, and I'm trying to watch what I want on that before it expires. In addition to paying $45 a month, Sling TV throws in four or five minutes of commercials very often. If I recorded the show, I can fast forward through them, but many things cannot be recorded. I get about five minutes of the show and four or more minutes of commercials. I stopped watching a show because of the never-ending commercials. They ran through about a dozen, and then the same series of commercials started over again.

Internet-only was my goal, but for $50 more, I got cable TV, a DVR, and a Samsung tablet. I found that paying for an online streaming service was not very good - loads and loads of commercials, and I was paying for them.

Do you have all the commercials like you did before ? Sounds to me like you have a good bargain for all you got.

No commercials on Spectrum or Netflix. I watch a lot of YouTube, and that throws in commercials. For some reason, this computer cuts off YT commercials after a secnd.

Yt ? I will have to check into this, YT has been pretty clean for me EXCEPT while using my iPad, I get flooded with ads even though I have an ad blocker.
