I can pay $80+ for Spectrum Internet, or I can choose one of the deals below. My download speed is currently about 365. Spectrum offers up to 1,000 mbps, but I don't need that. I'm currently paying $214 for Internet and cable. I'm calling them today to see if they can do better.

Jerry, I have been using Viasat for the last 4 years and I am very pleased with them , I had Hughes Net when I moved here when I called for the re-installation the contractor never returned any of my three calls, I canceled H/N had a little trouble but they finally sent me a box with return shipping paid and I returned their equipment.
I called Viasat and my installation was completed the next day.

I have spectrum Internet only and pay $35 a month. I have had no problems with them.

I never used cable. Internet has enough TV on it to cover my limited watching habits.

If you have that speed now, Hughesnet is a big joke. From them expect 30 instead of 300.

Mine too, I have not owned a television in over 20 years and don’t miss it.

Talk to them Jerry. My cost Includes $5. a month for using their router since I use the Ethernet ports on it. I can use mine, which I may eventually do, and my monthly cost would be $30. I have really good speed both wired and wireless.
Maybe it is just the area you live in where prices are more ?
Good luck.
Bruce.

I'll call them today - or maybe tomorrow.

5G is fine if and only if you have good cellphone coverage from a 5G tower. You can call or enter your address on their website, and they can tell you if it’s feasible. If you’re considering satellite, I’d also look at Starlink if they have coverage in your area. About 90 Mb down last I looked and $100/month + installation package. Given those numbers, Spectrum doesn’t look so bad. Those user satisfaction numbers look pretty scary for the two sat services you posted, and the speeds are not great compared to what you have (if you ever get your uplink speed fixed)

I'd read this link, consisting of alternate third-party Verizon providers and select one:
https://clark.com/cell-phones/best-verizon-mvno/
I have PagePlus, which is also an option in this category and has been fine for me for 8 years.

Spectrum is on the Verizon tower network, so you could save money without compromising or changing the coverage you now have.

My options are limited to Spectrum and two slower services. I have TracFone for mobile, and that uses Verizon towers, too. There is no monthly charge, and my usage has averaged about $15/month for the past seven years.

How long have you had Spectrum? That low monthly rate of $35 sounds like the 12-month introductory rate. I paid $30/month for a year, but it's now gone up to the normal $70/month. I have internet only, no TV or phone plan with Spectrum.

Spectrum is reliable and consistently fast, at least around here. It's clearly the best option for us.

Jerry, I've also heard that T-Mobile offers home internet for those with its phone plan.

I echo “TriX” on the making sure you have a solid 5G connection at home and add that I personally would not use T-Mobile if it were free… or if they paid me to use it. Had an exceptionally bad time trying to close my mother-in-law’s account after her death. They ended up getting paid for more than 2 months after she died… when I could close the credit card that was paying the account. The person I had to deal with, via phone/mail, was way past discourteous, and even threatening… and continued trying to bill the credit card after it was closed… and ensured me he would destroy my mother-in-law’ credit (even when the discussion was about her being dead) and stated that the account would only be closed when “he” decided it could be closed.

Spectrum raised my rates recently. I called to see if I could negotiate better terms - The answer - NOPE.

A couple weeks later I called to cancel my TV, and just keep internet. Guess what....All sorts of price concessions were suddenly available. I now have internet at about half of what I was paying previously.
