I can't imagine walking around with this contraption in public. In today's violent society I suspect this could quickly escalate into getting shot by police.

All one needs to do is put a bright orange plug on the end and you'll be fine, HONEST.

Yup. Looks like a good way to get shot and not by a camera.

If the idiot didn't wear all that "tactical" crap. But perhaps they want to show photographers outfitted for taking shots in wars or riots. Then, the chance of getting shot with that thing would be even higher.

I wouldn't even try out my old Russian "Photosniper" at an air show.

Today, not even a walk in the park with one!

It wouldn't be the first time for that.

I bought a stock for my camera/long lenses, but don't use it, for just the reasons articulated here. I had an acquaintance who had a restored WWII Weapons Carrier. He was taking it to show a friend, and somebody called the authorities. SWAT Team, man on the ground, later in court, he was fined $300 for "Disturbing the Peace". One SWAT member told him;"Do it again, that was fun!" Public lack of clear thinking + Paranoia is rampant. Perhaps you can use such an accessory, but should you?

There it is. A sad but true statement of our times. In today's culture, it's problematic just carrying a walk around camera, don't point it at anyone, or at anyones car, house, yard, or business, or you might end up in a confrontation regardless of if you are on public land.

It's a toxic male thing. Used to be called macho.

As I checked out the website for this contraption, I made sure all the drapes were closed. This device was well thought out and I don’t want my widow to try to get public sympathy for my stupid @$$ getting shot. I believe that the Admin should send all of us fools up to The Attic for opening up this thread. No matter what size camera or lens I use, I don’t what my epitaph saying I died to get a great photograph.

I use a similar contraption with my Canon 400mm f/5.6 WHITE lens. Been stopped by cops twice bc ppl have reported a "gunman" stalking in the park. Now if I were looking for ppl to slaughter wouldn't I be somewhere where they congregate? Got some fun snaps by my companion with my "coppers." BUT my daughter was NOT amused and demanded that I paint my camera n rig hot pink! Googled "Pink AK 47" and sure enough they come in PINK so that is not a solution!

I saw one of the most beautiful set ups with a gun stock from a Hasselblad ad back in the 70's, it was a white body and white telephoto lens on a custom built white gun looking stock with a remote trigger release. I think the guy was using it in Africa.

Sure paint it in red hot pink or even neon green. Make sure you have plenty of photo posters of yourself to give out. The title should say,

WANTED FOR BEING STUPID!

The only contraption I have is an L Bracket to support my camera (with Battery Grip) and a Sigma 150-600mm lens.

If handheld I don’t recommend a neck strap. A tripod is better.
