I can't imagine walking around with this contraption in public. In today's violent society I suspect this could quickly escalate into getting shot by police.
Seems there is a ceertain subset of folks who just like the "tacticool" look - so as ridiculous as it seems to me (and others perhaps) they view it as desirable.
In the world of firearms this kind of thing comes to mind...

I built my own out of two thicknesses of 3/4 inch plywood, routed out and finished just like a regular rifle stock. I've taken it out in Dallas and other cities many times and the only comment I got from the police was "Wow, you built that yourself?"

There is another aspect that is problematic in my opinion. It is the position taken when using the "gun" stock system. One of the key references a police officer looks for in a crowd is how the person takes his stance. And in a fire fight situation, it can go badly awry when trying to return fire. The reflection of the lens could suggest a scope at a glance. My two centavos, I would not use any gun stock styles for the camera.

A couple of observations: First, unless in a war zone, why body armor? Second, if I were to use a gun stock mount, it would be for long telephoto work like wild life or birds, certainly not in an urban environment.
