I shoot my Z9/100-400 combo all the time. Often with the 1.4x TC. I see no advantage to shooting in DX mode. If I’m gonna crop I’m gonna do it in post where I control the crop.

That's close to the rumor I read a few weeks ago. Cropped frame mirrorless Z90 with a 30mp Nikon designed sensor due possibly in September. No price given.
They predicted it would be a mirrorless D500 replacement.
However, NikonRumors thinks the September camera will be a full frame mirrorless Df.
