Speaking of Lost in Space, has anyone seen the new series on Netflix. It's everything the original series was not. It's a totally different view of the Robinson family, is very well written and a very compelling cliff hanger for the viewer.

That’s not Robbie.

Robbie was in “Forbidden Planet”.

This is the robot from “Lost in Space”.

Trivia: Robbie actually had a guest part on an episode of “Lost in Space”.

Thanks. I recognized the robot from somewhere, but I'm not familiar with the two you mentioned.

Jerry, by hook or by crook get a copy of "The Forbidden Planet".

Whether you are into science fiction or not this old film is an absolute must see.

It won an Oscar for special effects which, I believe, was the work of Ray Harryhausen who did all the stop motion monsters in the '50's science fiction and Sinbad movies. Robbie the robot was hugely expensive to build so the movie studios used him in several movies and TV shows although his biggest starring role was Lost in Space. I wonder where he ended up? It should have been in the Smithsonian.

I believe his biggest staring roll was in the film "he" was made for, "The Forbidden Planet".

Anyway, here is "Robbie", stage left, as a guest star in "Lost In Space"

Yes, I remember seeing it. Anne Francis lived for a while in the little town where I grew up.

"Forbidden Planet" was actually a good sci-fi film, for the time.

The plot is still valid, even if the effects and the campy acting are a bit dated.

It is worth watching, simply because it is a sci-fi classic.
