Mrs. Robinson
Remember Mrs. Robinson and Robbie the Robot?
Thatās not Robbie.
Robbie was in āForbidden Planetā.
This is the robot from āLost in Spaceā.
Trivia: Robbie actually had a guest part on an episode of āLost in Spaceā.

Thanks. I recognized the robot from somewhere, but I'm not familiar with the two you mentioned.
"Forbidden Planet" was actually a good sci-fi film, for the time.
The plot is still valid, even if the effects and the campy acting are a bit dated.
It is worth watching, simply because it is a sci-fi classic.

Ah, yes. I remember that now.

It won an Oscar for special effects which, I believe, was the work of Ray Harryhausen who did all the stop motion monsters in the '50's science fiction and Sinbad movies. Robbie the robot was hugely expensive to build so the movie studios used him in several movies and TV shows although his biggest starring role was Lost in Space. I wonder where he ended up? It should have been in the Smithsonian.

Ray was amazing. He was the king of special effects.
The original robot from Lost in Space is currently in storage. It was in the possession of one of my best friends who reassembled the robot when he got a job at 20th Century fox and found the original legs being used as a planter. He then searched the prop department and found ALL the original parts and had it reassembled and refurbished by the guy who built the models for Star Trek. Hereās a picture 0f me at Kevinās house in the 90s. He found every original pieceā¦ it even has the leather straps on the inside for the operator Bob May. Sadly, Kevin passed 6 months agoā¦ but he was a wonderful, creative producer (Ancient Aliens) and a bit touched, but deeply loved and respected. (When he passed, Bill Mumy, who was also a close friend wrote a beautiful song for Kevin.)
Wow that's an amazing story! I can't even imagine how much that would bring at an auction although as I said, it's a movie/TV icon and should be in the Smithsonian right next to Dorothy's ruby slippers. Thanks for bringing us up to date on this.

That line was not spoken by "Robbie" or even a robot. It was spoken by Ben, played by Dustin Hoffman. ANS the movie was not SciFi.
Just yanking a chain or two here.
