Well, there are some facts that you leave out of your statement, there was a little thing called Covid that required massive amounts of unprecedented peacetime emergency spending. And for all you progressives that complain about how the Trump tax cuts have caused such large deficits I say BS. In 2022 federal tax receipts approached 20% of GDP, coming in at 19.8% the highest ratio in over 20 years.

But he did beat Obama in this regard. It took him only one term to nearly DOUBLE Obama.
Just think, if he wins in 2024 he might go for 16.4 to set an all time record.

You seem to be conveniently forgetting the cause for much of that debt, ie the Covid pandemic.

The debt ceiling has nothing to do with “ future “ spending cuts “ or “ increased revenue “.
It is about management of the spending already laid out in law.
Why is that so hard to understand ?

So pay past due bills and THEN cut spending to not exceed projected income in future years.

Yes they did try in all their efforts to do away with spending under existing law.

To name a couple . These have been signed into law .
And remember the last Omnibus ( as much as I dislike omnibus bill) was passed in Senate by a bipartisan 90-1 vote.

Those are bills to be paid whether there are invoices or not. You attempt to play word games only embarrassed you,

Wrong again, they are trying to make cuts to funds that have not been spent as of yet and services not tendered yet many businesses take this action to save money. Why do you refuse to see this simple concept?

That’s wrong . Those are already codified in law - no connection to debt ceiling. If anything that plays straight into the 14 amendment approach..

As in my previous statement you are only embarrassing yourself.

No you are wrong, cuts can be made for funds that are not spent and tendered yet. You have absolutely no idea that the hell you are taking about. You think you know everything but you know very little of what you argue about.
