The debt ceiling has nothing to do with “ future “ spending cuts “ or “ increased revenue “.
It is about management of the spending already laid out in law.
Why is that so hard to understand ?

Maybe I missed it because I’m reading from my small phone. If the article does say that which I missed, then you were taking it out of context. Sounds to me that “is saying that Obama faced a near collapse when he got into office, not caused by him because by the previous administration.

Well, there are some facts that you leave out of your statement, there was a little thing called Covid that required massive amounts of unprecedented peacetime emergency spending. And for all you progressives that complain about how the Trump tax cuts have caused such large deficits I say BS. In 2022 federal tax receipts approached 20% of GDP, coming in at 19.8% the highest ratio in over 20 years.
