Funny.
I won't have an iPhone...
My android "phone camera" does not use the "FB" connotation for files.
Neither does the Camera FV-5 app.
I think he might have meant "don't." Maybe.

Oh, some people will get an iPhone at any cost.

"any cost" is right! Starting at $799.

And few will get the bare bones model...
I'm completely happy with my Galaxy S21 5G FE.
The ONLY reason I got it was my S-III would no longer work as a phone after 1/1/23.
Otherwise I would have just kept the S-III, which I got as a free upgrade from my flip-phone.

For yours, we've gotten our Samsung and Motorola phones from TracFone for under $100 each. They are cheap enough that we can have spares.

He downloaded pictures from FB and sent them to me.

The mystery continues!
I just downloaded one, and it didn't have "FB," just a very long string of numbers.
Click on the picture in FB (some will go to an article though) on your phone. Click on the 3 dots when the picture opens and do "save to phone". This is why the FB_ prefaces the saved image.
Here are some pictures to help. I did the screenshots on my phone, edited in PS on my computer, and saved with some borders, blurring, etc.
I found this post of a Mustang on FB (I was on my S23 Ultra)
I clicked on the photo itself and got to this.
I then clicked (touched) the 3 vertical dots and get this.
I touched 'Save to Phone" and voila, I get this:
Finally I got a snapshot (screen print) of the folder that this image was in.

Here is the saved image by itself.
Here is the folder structure on the phone. Note the name of the file in the thumbnail?

My son sent me pictures from England taken with his cell phone. Two in succession have these file names: IMG_2023... and FB_IMG_1684... I've seen the FB prefix on other pictures he's sent, mixed in with IMG. I couldn't find an explanation online. Any "FB" reference I found refers to Facebook.
He's using a Motorola Moto g Pure phone.
I would guess Facebook but you really need to ask your son and please post back here so we can all know! ;)
