When people look at an image from a mirrorless camera, they feel the difference not just in their eyes, but in the depth of their heart.

Yes, Paul. And I have also heard that it's even better than Viagra!!

And of course I said no such thing.

If there is a difference I cannot tell. I have used my Nikon D610 for landscape photography and also my Olympus cameras with one of their professional lenses and the images look excellent with either one.
I have no issues photographing landscapes with my Olympus cameras to make enlargements.

I see the live scene I am shooting with my EVF,

You see a camera software interpretation of that scene -- you say so yourself below.

No, it makes no difference if you know how to use your camera and lens correctly.

To me, it's more of a preference. I've been using mirrorless for landscapes since 1969. A few years ago, I added the Arca Swiss to my camera selections and have used that for a good portion of my landscape work. The Arca Swiss has been customized to accept the lensboards used on my Graphic II.

Yes, I do get quite a bit more detail and variable DOF using either of these mirrorless cameras.

Good one again, Bob. I also have a couple 4x5" View Cameras.

Do you have a point? My statement that you quote here is accurate. What are you trying to say?

Mirror or Mirrorless as part of the Camera's build is only one factor the new generation or cameras they have a lot of improvements as all new updated cameras do. The lack of mirror has made space for some improvements but the manufactures have added other goodies.
The point is the camera is a tool to be used to capture what you see. You are still the bid variable in the picture.

The thing about today's cameras is that they provide so many options that many, maybe most, of us don't fully understand how to handle all the options. Most of the time I shoot aperture preferred just like I did when using Kodachrome 25 and Tri X 400. I believe KISS (keep it simple stupid) works best for me. Many here have learned to take advantage of many or all of the new features.

Somewhere in between are those who believe they know it all, and will take that belief to the grave. Many of these folks will never change their ways, and that is fine. For better or worse UHH seems to be a place where so much time is expended trying to convince people to "Do It My Way". How many times do we see , "like I said before" from the same people over and over again.

The main thing is that most of us are having fun even when arguing to the point when we are beating that dead horse.

The only difference worth mentioning is found among technophobic shooters who love answering questions like this. I mean really, how many of us really think that 9 1/2 out of 10 members of the viewing public care, or could tell, any real difference between a landscape shot with either?

Now, on to debating a comparison of photographs between high-end, flag ship (uber expensive) cameras as against those shot with an iPhone!

For those landscape photographers who are dedicated to the genre, does it make a difference?
Just curious

It can. If you are hiking with minimal gear, a Micro 4/3 camera with a high resolution mode can give you an 80 or 100 MP raw file, due to its combination of excellent in-body image stabilization with step and repeat exposure routines.

Using the electronic shutter mode on any mirrorless camera that has one, turning off all artificial shutter sounds, and using a two second delay when on a sand-bagged tripod, will give you the least camera shake in your images.

That said, very careful use of a dSLR can yield excellent results, too. Lock up the mirror or use live view mode, turn off image stabilization, sand-bag your tripod, and turn off any artificial shutter sounds the camera can use in electronic shutter/live view mode.

With a DSLR, success is probably 99% luck. But with a mirrorless camera, it's 100% the photographer.

One big benefit of a R5 vs 5D4 is the increase in dynamic range. With the 5D4, if I tried recovering shadow detail in post, it would become unnatural looking and add a lot of noise. That's why a lot of photographers "expose to the right." With the R5, I can turn images that would have been hopeless with the 5D4 into beautiful natural looking images. This has offered me more opportunities to play with difficult lighting and be more creative. Is this because of being mirrorless or just sensor advancement? I don't know. Sony was always the leader in this respect and they were always mirrorless.
