The reason why orange can't be grown is Florida is not because it's "colder" (in general), but because the weather is less predictable. The (slight) rise in the overall temperature is completely disrupting the weather patterns we've come to rely on for the past centuries. So now we may see an early spring (starting the growing season), followed by a sudden frost, killing the plants that just started growing.

Really? You think you're able to judge sea level rise based on your nosing through some photos while NASA is using highly sophisticated satellites to be able to accurately measure this phenomenon? By the way, do you know that sea level rise varies over the globe and some spots are even showing lower levels? Probably not...

He (Catt) provided questionable data colored by pre-biased opinions and has made faulty conclusions based upon those opinions.

Some (many?) people, including a few on the the Hedgehog Forum, choose to deny verifiable evidence amassed by not just a few scientists.

The overwhelming quantity of data shows a rapid, recent, short-term temperature increase. A temperature change that is directly attributable to alterations caused by human actions. Not volcanos, not Milankovitch-cycles, not in solar-output levels — but in changes to the atmosphere caused by human activity.

It appears many people are more comfortable with denying factual, verifiable evidence than accepting that humankind is capable of making major climatic alteration.

A reminder of that denialist folly would be the evidence concerning the ozone depletion caused by chlorofluorocarbons and the healing results after the chemicals were banned.

People who can actually analyze facts and data may easily perceive there are individuals who are actively denying those same facts and data.

Those individuals who look at the amount of data showing something — then proclaim something exactly opposite — are denying reality. THEY ARE DENIERS.

If you look at the totality of the evidence and opinions of the majority of informed, reasoning, scientifically literate persons in the world and proclaim an obvious climatic alteration is not and has not occurred — YOU ARE A DENIER.

If you observe recorded, factual, observed historical temperature and atmospheric composition data (backed up by overwhelming data from things like ice-cores or other sources) yet proclaim there has NOT been a recent change in the planets climate and atmosphere — YOU ARE A DENIER.

There is nothing at all fascist about that, it is just an undeniable fact you and some others are incapable of rationally assessing evidence.

See this is where you lose all credibility when you classify someone as a climate denier when many if not most do not deny that the climate has change. I have no reason to doubt that the climate has changed, has always change this change for billions of years. This is no different than those past changes in the climate. This earth has experienced at LEAST 4-5 ices ages and warming stages and this is no different.
