Me and Bobbi McGee gives me happy chills every time I play it
My 8 month old son didn't want to sleep, so I took him downstairs and while rocking him put on the tv--the Dick Cavett Show, which as I recall ran at 11:30. It was the day Janis died, so he replayed his interview with her from a couple of months earlier. He interviewed her often and despite how different their self-presentations were, there always seemed to be real affection between them, and this made the interviews seem so spontaneous and intimate.
The whole interview was moving, of course, since she seemed so alive, but at the end of the show, he asked her to sing a song, and as it happened she sang You Gotta Get It While You Can. Seeing her sing this particular song a few hours after she died was unforgetable.

Janet now belongs to the ages. Many try to imitate her, yet none have achieved it.
Once upon a time, we performed mechanical services at the Southern Comfort plant. I was surprised to find that Southern Comfort is a liqueur that is primarily syrup and the alcohol content is added to the syrup along with highly filtered water to create the finished product. The sweet/fruity aroma of the factory was quite overwhelming.
One helluva diva, IMO. Seems the best die too young too often. Cry Baby is one of my favorites.

Here is a rare one. The parody that she & Bob Rivers teamed up on for 'Mercedes Benz'.
Honda Accord

Back in the late 60's while attending Villanove I went to the first Quaker City Rock Festival at the Spectrum.
It was a 7-1/2 hour show with 5 groups...Moby Grape, Vanilla Fudge, the Buddy Guy Blues Band, Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company and the Chambers Brothers.
I was at a concession stand getting a snack between acts when the guitar intro for Piece Of My Heart started and I was nearly trampled when everybody rushed back to their seats.
I believe you meant "piece of my heart".... (

Wow, Moby Grape, Vanilla Fudge, names I had almost forgotten.

So many good groups back then.
Electric Prunes,
Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Cream.
I'm a big fan as well. I've got virtually everything that Janis ever recorded on my iPod, which is connected to the entertainment system in my car. I often listen to her, and a bunch of other dead singers, like Woody Guthrie, Buddy Holly, Jim Croce, Pete Seeger, Israel Kamakawiwoʻole (AKA IZ), etc, when we're on a road trip somewhere.
BTW, there was a great documentary about Janis released in 1974, titled simply 'Janis', based in part on letters between her and her younger sister Laura. It seems that Janis was a prodigious letter writer, mailing one almost every day during the height of her career, including that last year or so when she was having so many problems. It's well worth watching, if you can find a copy of it.
Gone too soon, like many others. Thanks for the reminder about "Janis" I had forgotten all about that.

She was one of a kind, I miss her Balls to the wall attitude and singing.
She was something that's for sure
