If you spend the money on a STUDIO, you should NOT 'cheap out' with the monitor. If you want one of the best, try an Eizo. The Apple Studio monitor is also a good choice, as is a high-end LG made to match an Apple. I use a MAC Studio ULTRA and a MAC Studio monitor along with a LG monitor that exactly matched my prior iMac PRO. works very well for me. YMMV. Best of luck.

Thanks I’ll consider the LG

I have a MAC Studio and I use a Samsung M8 32" monitor. It also doubles as a 32" HDR TV. I'm very happy with the quality of the monitor. I bought it when it first came out and I paid $699. It's now closer to your price point on Amazon. Give it a look.

Thanks I don’t need the features of the Samsung

You've probably already picked up on the fact that the gamut coverage is important for photo editing. You may have noticed that there's quite a price jump between 2K and 4K screens. Since you seem to be concerned about price you should consider whether you need 4K or whether you should settle for 2K. If you don't do 4K video editing, 2K is a very acceptable alternative and you'll be spending your money on more desirable features like better colour rendering.

Thanks but I don’t want to limit myself, I’ll stick with a 4K

A couple of things to look for in a monitor (if you edit your images) is 99% Adobe RGB and hardware calibration. If you have the chance, look into BenQ monitors.

Thanks but $$

I have the 32” version and I’m very pleased with it. Those BenQ and ASUS ProArt monitors look great but the LG is rated right there with them for a nice savings.

Thanks I’m looking at the LG.

I was thinking the same thing!

I would suggest BenQ as an alternative. Eizo are great, but very pricey. BenQ come pretty darned close, at a bit more affordable prices.

Here are three possibilities at B&H Photo, compared:

SW240C... 24" is the smallest I'd recommend, and in this case it's a 16:10 format (instead of the "wide/cinema format" 16:9). This works well for photo editing. Note that this is only avail. HD... not 4K. I also show a package with this monitor and a color calibration device, if you don't have one. The other two BenQ monitors here are also available bundled with a calibration device, at add'l cost of course (or one can be bought separately... either way, I'd recommend it).

SW270C... 27" shown is also HD resolution. There's a 4K version (SW271C) too at about 2X the price. Note the shade provided with this monitor (and the larger 32" below... but not with the 24" above... might be able to buy one separately).

SW321C... 32" shown here is 4K, and the price is much higher. I don't think this model is available any longer in lower HD resolution.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/compare/BenQ_SW270C_Photographer_27_16%3A9_HDR_IPS_Monitor_vs_BenQ_SW321C_32_16%3A9_4K_HDR_IPS_Photo_and_Video_Editing_Monitor_vs_BenQ_SW240_24.1_16%3A10_PhotoVue_IPS_Monitor_vs_BenQ_SW240_24.1_16%3A10_PhotoVue_IPS_Monitor_with_ColorChecker_Display_Pro/BHitems/1481844-REG_1534852-REG_1397520-REG_1706602-REG

All three BenQ monitors are 10-bit, 1 billion color monitors. 100% sRGB, 99% Adobe RGB, etc. All are IPS, which is preferred for photo editing. (Apple monitors are great, but I believe you have to step up to 32" to get IPS.)

There are some excellent Dell and LG monitors too. Compare with these BenQ... and Eizo... and Apple.

I agree but I’ve spent the wad! I’ll go with the LG and save up for another if I’m not satisfied. Thanks for the input.

I recently purchased an Asus ProArt 24-inch from B&H. I wanted the 27-inch, but it was too large for the slot in my computer desk. The ProArt has all the tools onboard to make adjustments for calibration. Mine only required a manual brightness change. The gamma and the color temperature were right on. It's a well-built monitor. I would suggest you check it out. You can download the manual on the B&H site for more information.

I use an LG 27UL500-W $343.00 at Amazon. Great monitor-matched my former iMac beautifully.
