I find that photo AI does a great job on noise reduction, but not so much on sharpening. I very often have to run another sharpening program after I do photo AI.

I have all the Topaz products and have had mixed results. Having said that, I would buy them all again. I’ve had images where they worked magic, and others where I couldn’t get happy. I always shoot raw but I have a collection that includes many raw formats and jpgs.

Just this week I have been cleaning up my catalogue and I’ve discovered that “AI” can do really well with old jpg’s. And I mean REALLY well. On the other hand, it causes unacceptable distortion in old .arw files.

With current images I use it only selectively, preferring to push LRC to it’s limits.

I tried Topaz's previous version. I am staying with Lr and am happy. YMMV!

I tried the trial version of DeNoise a few times and deleted it as it didn't make much of a difference from PS or LR.
THEN -- I followed a fellow UHH's workflow and tried DeNoise BEFORE using PS or LR.
Makes a big difference. I purchased DeNoise.

As far as I'm concerned Photo AI is still a work in process. I too got it for free or I probably wouldn't have spent the money for it. I use it when I'm in a hurry with an already good shot that I plan to post at 72 ppi. The Gigapixel portion doesn't work when you use Photo as a Photoshop plug in.

It is still a work in process. It seems like they issue an update/improvement about once a week.

I use it and like it - things do go a bit slower - but I feel it is more than worth it

What I think I am seeing is that Adobe is trying to match or exceed what Topaz is putting out. I have seen some significant improvements in sharpening, noise reduction, and resolution enhancement in both LR and PS. Remember Topaz masking? Have you played with the subject detection in LR lately? I don’t use the Topaz version anymore. IMHO the LR version is really, really good.

Throwing my two cents out for consideration...I shoot lots of sports as well and in general love Photo AI. But I find unless I select faces, it sometimes does weird things with faces in the background (on gym bleachers, for example)...faces I don't really want in focus. So be aware of that. You can turn the face detection off in Photo AI and I usually do that when processing images with spectators in the background. Or take the time to select the faces you want AI to work on.

Thank you Terry for commenting. I also shoot a lot of sports, probably 4-5 games a week so this info is important.

It makes photos look really weird when background faces are sharp but rest of background is blurry. Lol!

I bought it to hopefully fix some pictures that were out of focus slightly. And some totters that were noisy. It worked great on both.

I think for what it is designed to do it works better than Lightroom or photoshop.

I bought the Photo AI bundle about two months ago,, and now find it a regular part of my workflow from
Lightroom. Easy plug-in, you right click on an image anywhere in your workflow and click
"edit in" Topaz AI,, it open quickly ,, scans the image and then lets you decide how much of each process to use
with sliders,, for noise, sharpen, facial recovery,,
I love it so far,,

Me too. I just have to ask about your unusual punctuation: how do you decide on period, comma, or double comma?

I have all the Topaz but while recently editing INDOOR HOCKEY shots, all with TERRIBLE LIGHTING - HIGH ISO (not professional hockey rinks - high school), AI was the only program that worked. I tried DXO's on a trial basis and that may prove better. In all cases, the faces were poorly lit and the results were at best OK - view prints from a distance .
