I am looking for comments (good or bad) about the Topaz product Photo AI. I already use sharpening and Denoise and like them both. Will the Photo AI quicken my workload?
Thank you in advance,
Jules

I had already acquired Gigapixel, Denoise, and Sharpen as a package just before Photo came out, so they gave it to me complimentary. Often, I go to Photo first, as it is kind of a "catch-all" for the other 3. If something doesn't look quite right, then I may select one of the others. One thing I like about Photo is that it will find and sharpen faces as a priority. A few times, however, the face was sharpened, but the neck and clothes were still either not appropriately sharpened, or there was noise near the face that needed denoising. I'm glad I got it, as it does speed things up on most images.

Thank you for your quick reply. I shoot a lot of games so I am looking to speed up the workflow. It sounds like the Photo may do the trick.

I have used it on some of my images. In my opinion and experience it is almost as good as using either the Denoise and/or Sharpen products. If I find I have a favorite or favorites or even "challenging" images, I would probably go to the Denoise and/or Sharpen products. But for the majority of times its' ability to combine features of the two products into one and come out quite good is fine for me. Especially if I find myself going through a lot of photos, it does save me a lot of time with acceptable results.

Thank you for your feedback. I do go through a lot of images at these games. Average 600 shots or more, so I am leaning towards getting the Photo AI.

As far as I'm concerned Photo AI is still a work in process. I too got it for free or I probably wouldn't have spent the money for it. I use it when I'm in a hurry with an already good shot that I plan to post at 72 ppi. The Gigapixel portion doesn't work when you use Photo as a Photoshop plug in.

I do a lot of nature photography—mainly, birds and insects—and use Photo AI routinely as a Lightroom plug-in. I crop and make tonal adjustments to a batch of images in LR, and then send them to Photo for noise reduction and sharpening, as needed. I think it does a wonderful job and is easy to use.

I love it. It works so well to reduce the noise and to sharpen.
I have a discount code. PM me if interested.

Like I have said before, I am still working on how to use, I am stupid. But my opinion is this is a wonderful program and actually the first game I used it on it helped me get an amazing amount of photos for MaxPreps.com that I usually wouldn't have been able to before. They were running another special last week, don't know if still running. Someone mentioned they had a code for it. I also think they have a 30 day trial you can do. Thanks and BE SAFE!!

Is the discount code a secret?

I have been using Photo AI recently, both on RAW images and on images I have already processed to some degree. If it is not a RAW file you get a warning message suggesting you will get better results on a RAW file. Testing this, it seems true - however when I applied it to a bracketed triple of shots, LR was unable to HDR process the output TIFF files because the were not identical in size.

In my experience, the impact of AI is marginal, whether or not you work with a RAW file. With RAW files the impact is greater, but noticeable only under magnification. Still, there usually is some improvement so I've been using it but mostly as a final touch-up on some of my best images.

I tried Topaz's previous version. I am staying with Lr and am happy. YMMV!
