It is generally assumed that most here at UHH are adults. If you look at the blurred portion you will see the same image enlarged!! I don't know why this is done except to fill the horizontal screen around a vertical shot without having a lot of either black or white blank space on the sides

"Young-uns" shoot vertically because they will only view the video on their phone and they "always" hold it vertically. Also, they post them on Tik-toc etc, which are designed for a vertical format.

This topic reminded me of something I experienced last week at a concert. During intermission an elderly man in front of me was reading some text on this iPhone. He was holding the phone vertically and had to swipe the screen back and forth to scan the entire text. I tapped him on his shoulder and suggested he turn his phone horizontally. He did and was flabbergasted at the result.
