New computer, win 11, stopped working. Luckily, I used Carbonite to save all my files. After tech from Dell got me up and running I opened carbonite and did a backup.

all files are there but no applications. I have been working trying to find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.
Turns out Windows crashed, new hardrive and win reinstall.

Sorry about your loss
I had a hard drive failure using Win 98 at that time I had to reinstall all my programs from CD's
Luckily I had save all my files on external an drive .

I now use a Mac and do a system backup in Time machine
And My files are backed up on three external drives as they are created.
When I had a problem with an OS update I had to restore from Time machine only.

You will have to reinstall your applications. Hopefully you have your old download folder, which should contain the installation files for your applications.

It’s a good idea to have a local backup as well as a cloud backup. You don’t have to wait for bandwidth limited restoration.

Local backup should be primary and cloud backup secondary.

I have never worried about loosing my applications in a system crash. Unlike the 90s and early 2000s I own all my applications. I am only worried about my data files. I have plenty of time to reload my applications, I'm retired or very little time to worry about it, I'm 79.

Proabably updating and you shut it down unknowingly.
Same thing happened to me before.

I just experienced a hard drive crash and ended up with a new hard drive and no applications. I did find a lot of .exe files in the down load file on my backup files. I would install them and when it recalled the password, I clicked can't remember and most sent me an email to change my password. It was a big help.

I have used Acronis for the past 20 years. I do redundant weekly backups of all my drives (6: 2 NMVE, 2 SSD and 2 HDD). I have recovered my entire C drive (operating system drive) multiple times. Once recovered, it's as if I had never lost it. As TRIX indicated, your EXE files for programs (Apps) should be in your downloads folder. Recovery of a program takes one click on the EXE file. I hope you have access to the folder.

Good luck. It may not be as disastrous as you think.

Oh my, I never realized that! In the past when I had a head crash and had to replace my system drive I went looking for all the program keys to reinstall programs, which was always a pain.

Thank you!

Some programs are not so simple. Complex programs require supporting files to be placed at specified places through the computer and also require specific fields in the registry. If you're starting from a complete reload, something like Lightroom will not work just by placing the exe file in the right place.

Restoring the exe file is NOT the same as installing the program.
