Apply for their PayBoo credit card and avoid state sales tax. After you leave the store, walk down 34th Street and take a walk on the High Line. It's one of the nicest parks in NYC.

I don't know if it's the same now...I was there about 30 years ago.

A year or two ago I saw a video either from their website or something else but it was a detailed tour of the store and it is amazing. It gives you a real good idea what to expect when you go there, but others have already answered the question it’s a storefront you just walk in and Well, all I can say is good luck enjoy it and let us know what you found.

It's a retail store. You just walk in when they are open for business.

Yes, it was a walk-in 30 years ago so I'm sure it still is.

First, you should book transportation. You could come into New York City by Amtrak but booking a flight might be best. A nice hotel is also a plus. There are many but the New Yorker is down the street. Another nice hotel is The Marriot Marquis. Besides, there is so much to see here that you should create an itinerary for at least a week. You definitely will get the most out of it. Public transportation is easy to use and I frown on taxis or ubers.

B&H is a terrific store and one can easily get lost. My wife ties a long string around my finger so she can find me. LOL! best to get a Payboo credit card so you don’t pay sales tax and they close early on Friday and are closed all day Saturday. They are owned by Chassidim and They close for the Sabbath.

There is so much to do here that an itinerary is a must. You will kick yourself if you miss something.

It's just a big store in NYC. Short walk from Penn Station.
It's NYC so be careful.
It's closed Friday afternoon and Sat for the sabbath. Check out there tripod section even if you don't think you need one.
If you get their pay boo credit card you get instant rebate of your tax. If you pay it off the first month no interest, if you don't it's 29.9%,which is a killer like all credit cards.
Think of the size of a home depot but several floors.
Be prepared for GAS attack.
I mentioned tripods because that's an item you need hands on to judge. Surui tripods are on displayed.

Just made my first visit there this past December. What everyone else has already said: Take your wallet, credit cards, cash, and first born because you will NOT be able to leave without some snappy new toys! Be sure to give yourself plenty of time there - it's a huge store and you don't want to rush.

You can apply for an OMNY Card and if you are 65 or older you can pay half fare on subways and buses. With an OMNY account you can use the card or you can link it to a credit card in your digital wallet.

These days I find that, on a weekday, taking a bus will get you around Midtown in about the same time as an Uber or taxi. They all get stuck in the same traffic! Of course, the subway is the fastest way to travel in NYC.

Just to let you know that B&H is just a camera store is fine. But NYC is a great place to be. There is a lit to see and do. A one day visit isn’t giving this town justice.

It's on the East side of 9th Ave, between 34th and 35th Street.
They have a small parking lot for two hour free parking, there is a minimum purchase requirement, on the north side of 34th St. close to 9th Ave.
Make sure you know what you want to see, otherwise GAS will overwhelm you.
Enjoy your visit.

Hey Scruples; you said it right. LOTS TO SEE AND DO. I lived in Brooklyn in the late 1990's, yea their was a woman to blame. Gods saving angels saved me from discovering B&H then. I did not know about it but if I did !!!! I would still be paying off the bill. If he or anyone wants to visit NY city it would be good to take a couple of weeks for sure. I could spend, and damn near did, spend a just a week in the Museums, A MUST SEE. Ah the food and street life was so cool when I was there. Things have changed. I sure could not live there but could visit again. I was very impressed with the video tour and interviews of the store, owner and employees. They set a great example. I made one online purchase a couple of years ago and it could not have gone better.
My nickels worth opinion for today.
Bruce.
