Yes, that would be even better. But until then I'd settle for the sin tax.

I have several, one from a ship I was stationed on ( USS Stribling DD-867 ), one a friend gave me who just a few week ago passed away, one my son gave me for my birthday that is electric ( no fluid & no flint ) just charge it ever week or so. I have a number of other one's also. Also a collection of odd butane lighters to add to my other collectable coffee cups (50+) and ball caps (150+). And a large collection of NASCAR items. Somebody will be busy with all this when I'm gone.

Kind of ironic, since it was her lifelong habit of smoking that did her in. Bradford, PA isn't very far from me, and it's on my (looong) list of places to visit.

Do any of you have a collection of Zippos? I'll post a picture one of these days.

Had several during 60s to mid to late 80s when I quit smoking. The only one I wish I could have kept is one I had with emblem and engraving from my year’s vacation in Vietnam… 65 - 66… but it disappeared like the others.

I had two Zippo's, they were quite common in my younger days, and a couple of my friends could manage a one handed manouvre to flick open the lid and light it up in one go.

They're still quite common in movies. That's what the guy uses to start a fire. He lets the gas or gasoline flow, and then he tosses in the Zippo.

I find it odd that anyone who tells a Dr they have smoked at anytime for any length that gets any kind of cancer it is attributed to smoking. I have had 5 friends due from cancer. 3 from lung cancer 2 of those very young and very healthy never smoked nor did their parents. No answers from the Dr. I'm sure a great uncle must have smoked. That was probably the cause. Anyone with half a brain knows smoking is bad for you but I find it impossible to believe every cancer in a smoker is caused by smoking. If so I wonder why so many non smokers due from or get cancer?

I think what the doctors are saying is that as cigarette smoking exposes smokers organs to carcinogenic chemicals, it’s possible that smoking contributed to their cancer. They are not attributing the cancer solely to smoking.

I had recently arrived in Saigon and my roommate was Bill Tekavic. Bill had his camera (classic half-frame Olympus PEN in his hand) engraved previously and took me along to get his radio done. I figured I could get my Zippo done here and asked for just Vietnam, my name and years. When I picked it up I found they decided to embellish it with "Snoopy" on the back. And a very lame Snoopy at that! Another 50 cents flushed down the tubes! I could have replaced it at the PX (and, as it turned out, have it engraved professionally) but I decided that this was a true lesson in relations with the East and worth keeping.

My wife collected them before we met over 30 years ago. We've been selling them on eBay. Here is one of our favorites that we haven't listed yet but will. It's a promotional one for Kennecott mining company that started in Kennecott Alaska, now in Utah. The lighter was probably never removed from the box until I did for the photos.

Very nice, especially for someone who worked for Kennecott.

I never paid more than $5 for a zippo lighter! Maybe you should buy three at this price.

I did but I threw them all (probably a dozen or so) out with all of my smoking paraphernalia in 1982 when I "finally" quit smoking at the age of 34. I started jogging immediately and my lungs have been holding up just great. However I did have a left nephrectomy in 2010 which the Doc attributed to smoking. What a stupid habit, huh?!! (Cancer free since then.)

I Had several Zippos, but I'm not a saver or collector of stuff. There are a few reasons why I'm not. Onward & upward!

I began smoking when I was 14. My Dad died in 53 (coronary at age 41) - he was a heavy smoker. In 67' our first daughter was born and I quit cold turkey. (age 30). I started again in 1980 and smoked for 2 years and quit. I started again in 87, smoked for 1.5 years and quite again. I have not smoked since and will NEVER return. I've had two bladder cancer episodes. One in 2019 and another in 2020. I'm clean again after two operations. I hope there is not another. Not much fun, particularly bladder/urinary tract infections.

Yes, smoking is a very stupid habit!!
Stay well!

For sure. We've been near the original mine area in Alaska. It's now a National Historic Landmark and tourist attraction. Now I wish we had gone there.

Maybe not they might be like " Ava's papa " just take everything to the dump, blame the tool not the user disorder.
