What do you think of this camera? I think it's pretty good. Nothing is perfect but I seem to like this camera.

Specs look quite impressive.
Puts it in a class of it's own.

Well now, that was a nice short pleasant thread. Perhaps a UHH all time record.

Nothing is more important than the brand markings: C A N O N.

But, it helps that the mirror is removed too.

Thanks for your comments. What I like and the reason I bought the R6 MarkII is the auto focus is very good and I would say almost perfect. And the super clean files I'm getting at ISO 1250 are very good and I just love them. I bought the RF 24-70mm 2.8 and found a lightly used RF 70-200 mm f/4 along with the RF 50mm f/1.8 lens. I love all these lenses and can't wait to shoot them. Also bought a slightly used 430 EX II-RT Flash that I like a lot. I'm getting the new Canon flash controller for Christmas. What a nice kit this is.

I came "this close" (holding Index finger and thumb very close together) to buying the R6 Mark II with 24-105 L lens. In fact, I had the combo in my cart at B&H. Then, for no particular reason, I went and looked at the R5 page again and saw that a "Used" R5/ lens combo had popped up that was listed as excellent condition with a fairly low shutter count. The price difference for a "new" R5/ lens combo would have been +$1200 at this time (normally +$1400 but the R5/lens is currently discounted $200). This used R5 was more $$ than the R6 II I was about to buy, but by a lot less than the "new" price difference. I decided to jump on the deal, as I knew it wasn't going to last long and I felt it would be beneficial to have the extra pixels / resolution for birds and wildlife, which I've been shooting a lot lately. The ability to crop in tigher can come in handy when shooting birds or wild life that are far away.

That said, I don't think I'd have been unhappy had I gone ahead and bought the R6II. With the R6II I'd have had a new camera with full Canon warrenty. With my used R5 I will probably end up buying a year of their "Protection Plan" for $99, but I know I'm taking a bit if a risk not having a full Canon Warrenty. (Ya roll the dice ya takes your chances)

From all accounts and reviews, the R6II looks like an absolutely amazing Camera for the price. Yes, it has less resolution, but 24MP is nothing to sneeze at and this is a new sensor. One reviewer who was at the Canon reveal event told me via their YouTube video comments that the Canon reps told them that the R6II IQ is on par with the 30MP 5D Mark IV despite the lower MP. (I have no way to verify that, but that's what he said). The R6II has some additional AF tracking settings that the R5 doesn't have. (hopefully a future firmware update will add these). It also has a faster shutter speed if that matters to you. I like that they put a "photo/ video" switch on the R6 II to make switching between the two modes much easier. I don't shoot much video so this wasn't as big a deal for me, but it might be for some content creators. I also like the idea that it has two SD slots instead of the CFe and SD slots the R5 has (My 5D4 has a mix of slots and I hate that). File sizes will also be smaller, which may or may not matter to you.

Back in October, for the Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta, I rented an R6 (the first generation) while I was trying to decide between the R6 or R5 at the time. The R6 is 20MP, which I found a little lacking when it came to cropping in. The R6 II is a new sensor altogether with 24MP so might be slightly better in that regard. One thing that did bother me just a little was how small the camera was and how light it felt in my hands. This isn't a criticism, just an observation. Of course I was comparing it to my 5D Mark IV which is a tank. At that time, I was pretty sure I was going to save my pennnies and go for the R5, but then the R6II came out and that changed my thinking again...until I saw that B&H used R5, LOL.

Had that used R5 deal not jump up in my face I almost certainly would have bought the R6II and I'm sure I would have been over the moon happy with it for it's amazing AF and full warranty. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I made the right choice but there it is.

I might have done the same thing. I was asking the camera store about the R5 and the new Sony IV or what ever it is. I'm still learning the Canon way of doing things because I came from 35 years of Nikon cameras going all the way back to the Nikon FA. At that time I had a Canon EOS 620 and had trouble with the lenses not stopping down or something like that. So I traded it in on the Nikon Fa. I never had a problem with any of my Nikon cameras or lenses.I also herd some where that the R6II auto focus is part of the R3 system and that is why it works so nice. Another Canon I was thinking about was the 5D mark IV. My Nikon was Z6 II and I loved the colors from it. I hope I can make the Canon do the same.

Yes, I think you're right about the R6II using the same AF as the R3. The only thing the R3 AF has that the R6II doesn't is that "eye tracking" feature where the camera focuses where you're looking. (not sure I'd like that anyway).

You can tell it which eye to focus on left or right but I don't do that with mine. The camera has very fast focus and low light doesn't seem to matter much. Have you tried Radiant Images software? I'm really impressed with it. I makes my pictures just pop and say something to me. What lenses are you using on the R5? Do you have any RF lenses or using the old style EF lenses with adapter?

No I have not used Radiant Images, but I do have Luminar Nero (and Luminar 4 and Luminar AI) and slightly have the suite of Topaz software (Denoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel).

I'm not using any lenses on my R5 yet - it hasn't been delivered yet (scheduled for this coming Wednesday) But when I do get it, it will come with one RF lens, the 24-105 f/4 L. I also have several EF lenses (Rokinon 14mm prime, Canon EF lenses: 50mm f/1.4, 135mm f/2, 300mm f/4, 70-200 f/4, 24-105 f/4. Also a Sigma 150-600.
They should all work fine with the adapter I bought already.

How do you like it with the EF adapter? I'm looking at the R6II but am thinking about just getting the body and using my EF lenses since it will be mostly in the studio on a tripod.
